Personally I think the song deserves a higher rating than 5.498. Sure, the video is shit, but who cares? The song is good, and something different for Noel. It's a solid 7.5/10, erring on an 8. I'd much rather have him doing something creative and different with some interesting layers than more of the same stuff (e.g. If I Had a Gun and The Dying of the Light; Lock All the Doors). I think people need to separate the song from the video.

I don't see the problem in taking something in the style of If I Had a Gun and The Dying of the Light and applying this 'fresh and modern' style of production. The best of both worlds. BSD and TITP are ok (weak 7s at best) but they just never take off for me and I can't help but think it's self sabotage from Noel. This feels very much like Noels Bob Dylan Self Portrait phase. Sail On is the best of the 4 songs and sounds like it could have been finished in about 15 minutes. |

I think people need to separate the song from the video. Noel already did that with BOTMI, WAL or WTSRTS: classical Noel songs with a different instrumentation. I love all three, but I think Holmes and him were looking for a deeper change leading to songs with different tempo, different structure and a different way of creating hooks. You cannot do that after the song has already been written. I think that was exactly Holmes' point when he refused to produce CY: adding a few beats on top will not change nothing substantial. Of course, that does not mean people need to like the end result or that, if they do not, then it's because their music taste is not varied enough. Personally I think it has been breath of fresh air that will also help him to extend his palette when he goes back to his more classical style. |

I give it a 6.5. It definitely sounds better live. Its pretty good, but could have a better hook and something more interesting going on in it.

You either like a song or not. I don't shuffle my iPhone and go "oh that's a 5, that's a 9, that's a 3, that's a 7". |

The verses are equally as good as In The Heat Of The Moment and the drums, bass, guitar and soundscape are mad fer it 😎 This production, with a tune like Falling Down on top - preferably with Liam on vocals - would be great.
