I received a mp3 from his official store in midnight and I'm listening to it as I type. I like it. Very curious how it will sound like live.

Not keen on first hearing this. I've listened to it 3 times and it hasn't grabbed me yet. I much preferred the last one to this.
Dreary, plodding, no catchy chorus or real uplifts. The complicated bass is the best thing on it. I'm hoping it grows on me.

Nothing incredible but it is MILES better than Black Star Dancing

I really like it, a sort of Riverman and Right Stuff hybrid. Love the bass on it.

Nice sound and production, the melody doesn't really connect with me though.

This could have fit nicely alongside 'If Love Is The Law' and 'The Man Who Build The Moon' in a very story driven set of tunes. I like it.

Is this...is this real life?
"Speaking about ‘Rattling Rose’, Gallagher said: “It manages to combine the influences of Chris Rea, Chris De Burgh, Mike and the Mechanics and Slipknot FFS!!! I may have eaten too many gummy bears recently.
“Anyway it’s ‘jolly good’ … not my words but the words of David Cameron who literally did the hokey cokey at Soho Farmhouse when he heard it.”"

I’m digging the vibe on this one a lot.
I love the period were in with Liam keeping the traditional Oasis-type bangers, high energy, big rock show stuff, while Noel tries any whim he desires. It’s good to see them both doing exactly what that want to do.

The Right Stuff part 2. It's always the same vibe.
Decent, but bland and forgettable.

It's almost good. I'm not sure what it is that makes it fall short but at least it's an improvement.

I'm having trouble identifying what part the chorus is supposed to be...(same problem with BSD).
Seems like Noel is more concerned with writing songs that fit the "big band" concept, rather than writing songs that are intrinsically good, and then figuring out how to include them into a 10-piece group with three additional backup singers and trumpets and etc....

Enjoyed this tune at the London Palladium the other week - the studio version is nice too.

First impression of this song was that it sounded like a step backward into the sound of CY. Yet on repeat listens, I'm again surprised by how understated and confident it sounds. It's really cool to see how working with Holmes has changed Noel's attitude toward songwriting, arranging, and production. Unlike BSD, Rattling Rose is, at its core, a typical Noel solo song that he's been writing for quite some time now. Yet it has far more interesting percussion patterns and other subtle twists and turns than are normally found in a Noely G song. My bet is that these EPs won't be much more than Noel in the gym: putting out songs for the sole purpose of refining his skills as a musician and songwriter, and exploring what he can do with his newfound burst of creativity from working with Holmes rather than trying for any kind of major statement.

It's a cool, vibey song...nice instrumentation, but there's no teeth to it.
My biggest problem with Noel's recent solo work is it seems like he has a lot of interesting ideas, but then he executes it in such a bland way. And he can't help himself from reverting to the same lyrical tropes about some mythical magic girl.
If I sound disappointed, it's because I am. I get Noel's been purposefully trying to steer away from the big melodic, acoustically composed songs we know him for, but there's no question that was his musical strong suit, and where he's had the most success. He's well within his rights to try doing more spacey, mood-based music...but the final result sounds uninspired, and like there's something missing.
It's still listenable and enjoyable enough, but at one point I had higher expectations of Noel, and for this kind of music there are just plenty of other artists that do it better.

Done a cover of this one as well. Lovely little tune. Much better than Black Star Dancing. Nicely done cover. Top shelf stuff. This will fill the third-track hole on Chasing Yesterday nicely. Good tune. Wait, what year is it?

His solo cycle has reached the SOTSOG - HC era of creative blandness. Pretty much spot on.
