I am cautiously optimistic we'll have something sooner, it depends how these sessions progress I suppose and, perhaps crucially, if Noel gets cold feet. I don't think he will, but you never know. He seems set on this way though and that's a good thing. I'd say we could perhaps hope for a spring (probably April/May) 2020 release. If these sessions go well then the album could be done by the end of the year, factoring in Noel's touring commitments. I admit, though, realistically autumn 2020 seems the most likely scenario. But we'll have a Liam release to look forward to, at least, next year.

If Liam's album comes out in the first half of 2019, Noel will have music ready soon enough.
Bottom line with Noel is, you just don't know. He's been less than forthcoming in the past about his progress on projects.

He's been less than forthcoming in the past about his progress on projects. I really don't think Liam's album will have any impact on when Noel's is released. Noel isn't making music for anyone but himself, really, at the end of the day. So I can't see him pushing it. Honestly don't think we'll get anything before spring 2020, at the earliest. Would be delighted if I'm wrong!

You know Noel has plenty of songs, he has a well rehearsed band to go into the studio that he’s comfortable with and probably a decent idea of who’s going to produce it. It might come quicker than you imagine.

A producer has already done their work on whatever it is. Does he double up on Holmes? He said he’s starting a new Holmes album in january. We shall see.

Yes, but I guess he meant the album he's recording with the band in Abbey Road and not the Holmes one. I suppose they're different projects, with the latter starting in January.

Imagine... just imagine... that for once Noel releases the touring band album as a low key thing, maybe even an online EP in time for the big dates in May and June. I know it's not likely but on the other hand I can't see Noel putting out something concentrating on his band as his fourth solo album proper.

In theory I love what you are saying but this is Noel and his tiny management company of what seems like 5 people and 2 interns. They are all stuck in the past. Like it’s 1996. I don’t get it. I’ve never have gotten it. The world moves so fast. Music is consumed so differently. I’ve given up thinking Oasis or Noel will ever change. Both projects will be long and drawn out or just never happen.

I just wonder what's most likely to give; Noel's refusal to move with the times or Noel's ego refusing to consider an album focusing on the other members of NGHFB as top priority as an album focused on him.

If he wants to mark a definate separation between the two projects then he should uncouple the two names and release one as High Flying Birds and one as Noel Gallagher.

Noel seems very focused on showing much how he's evolved even if he's evolved more in his own mind than in reality (he has evolved a lot though). He sounds proud to consider himself an 'artiste' because it's the opposite of what he was in the 90s and 'artiste' is what David Bowie was and he admires Bowie so much. He's also made a point to highlight the three women. On his social media photos so many of them focused on Jessica, Ysee, and Charlotte, sometimes even more than him. I felt like he was making a point on how he's evolved with women in the band now. I think he sees that all things being equal, Liam will win with the 'hardcore' oasis fan and he is trying to show how he's evolved. If the music is good, I don't think Noel would have a problem releasing an album with Jess, Ysee, and Charlotte featured as singers. It will give him more credibility in other areas and show that he cares more about that than sales. I truly feel he wants to distance himself from 'Oasis Noel' and to be honest, I have no problem with that. If I want 'Oasis Noel', I'd listen to the 90s albums.

I mean I personally think WBTM is Noel's best work since SOTSOG so I'm certainly intrigued to see where it goes from here.

She Taught Me How to Fly, The Man Who Built The Moon, It's a Beautiful World, If Love is the Law, Be Careful What You Wish For, and Fort Knox are some very good tunes and are Noel, but in a different, more experimental sense. I'm excited to see what LP #4 has to offer.

Looking forward to hearing Chris Sharrock on the next album (presuming we get the non-David Holmes one first).
Will those be his first recordings since BE in 2013? The first time I’ve heard him, anyway.
Always thought he was one of Beady Eye’s plus points.

What’s the latest on HFB members on Instagram and twitter? Any new posts? Trying to figure out where this touring band album stands.

What’s the latest on HFB members on Instagram and twitter? Any new posts? Trying to figure out where this touring band album stands. Looks like Jess is in Nashville doing some recording and writing with other people and Ysee hasn’t posted since Abbey Road in December. I don’t follow Russ or Charlotte so I can’t see what they’re up to but I guess they probably aren’t recording together at this stage. I know Noel is supposed to be working with Holmes right now as well. I’m very confused as to what’s goin on with this little side project. Would be cool to get another Noel related release before #4, but I’m not getting my hopes up just yet.

Not sure how far into the process that means. Seems well down the road but what the fuck do I know?

David Holmes always works with the same people, doesn’t he? The same bassist and drummer, anyway.
Doubt any of the High Flying Birds got the invite for the next Holmes-produced album. It’s probably with that in mind why Noel asked them along for his other album last year.

This could be a good approach by Noel. We all know he loved the Holmes style of writing in the studio and throwing the kitchen sink at it (or was that another era? ), but he IS always writing and needs to get those songs out too. Are we ever going to hear a proper version of "Don't Stop (AKA Bye Bye My Family"? Probably more likely with the band record than on a Holmes record...
