Hot-take of sorts, but I think the last twenty-five seconds of Cry Baby Cry could make a great sample.

Just listening now, some of it sounds great.
Part of me thinks about how much they can squeeze out of re-issues and at some point you have to just let it be (no pun intended), rather than just keep retouching old songs again and again. As good as they sound, there's nothing in the remixes that anybody has been really pining for, because they were already fine as they were. if they hadn't been remixed and re-released, it's still a great album.
it's all just a money grab but fair play if they can. nobody is forced to buy it and it's still a cool listen anyway.

I still don’t get why material recorded long before the white album sessions is included but a remix for Hey Jude and Revolution are not? Seems strange. Hey Jude is their biggest ever single. One of their most well known songs. It’s heart and pulse are from these sessions. Meanwhile Lady madonna, across the universe and the inner light have fuck all to do with the white album. Weird.

What are people's favourite outtakes? I'm keen to hear.

What are people's favourite outtakes? I'm keen to hear. Leader of the pack is Long, Long, Long (Take 44).

I think my ears are fucked up in some way, because I can never hear any differences whenever some album gets remastered. Is there any song here where the difference is so apparent that even I could hear it?

Sounds like a b-side to me.

Ob-la-Di Ob-La-Da is such a tune. Everything Arcade Fire tried to do on Chemistry, but actually fun and bouncy and melodic as hell. Great.

What are people's favourite outtakes? I'm keen to hear. Love the different versions. First off, I can toss the Esher demo CD bought in 1993. Enough said there. Turns out, I've heard a lot these prior. Sound quality is stunning here though. No surprise, liking the ones with extra guitar sounds. Special note Los Paranoias: Always wished this was longer on Anthology. It's cheese, but it really shows Paul's range. Delicious cheese Revolution 1 (take 18) Everybody's got Something To Hide Except For Me And My Monkey (Unnumbered Rehearsal) Cry Baby Cry (Unnumbered rehearsal) Hey Jude (Take 1) Not Guilty (Take 102) While My Guitar Gently Weeps (Third Version; Take 27) Los Paranoias (Studio Jam) Savoy Truffle (Instrumental Backing Track) I'm So Tired (Take 14) Have not even listened to the remix yet What are your favs?

I have loved this album since I was a teenager and I am loving it all over again. Fucking Fab!! I have never heard alot of the out-takes and the overall quality of sound I think is amazing!
There is so much to absorb. Long, Long, Long take 44 yes! but Julia two rehearsals version is truely haunting... Also big love for Piggies.

...First off, I can toss the Esher demo CD bought in 1993. Enough said there... There's quite a few differences between the multitrack tapes on this official release and the bootleg releases. On the bootlegs WHILE MY GUITAR GENTLY WEEPS has an organ overdubbed which is absent from the official release. The most obvious difference is SOUR MILK SEA - the bootleg version and the official release are two completely different performances. There's other minor differences but they're the two major ones (I can post a list here if there's any interest - fans on the Beatles forums are slowly picking through it all and posting notes). The official release comes from George Harrison's multitrack tapes. The bootleg version is a mono compilation copy of those tapes made by George and Paul and given to John. Paul and George overdubbed some instruments live as they copied the tape and obviously (deliberately or accidentally) left a microphone open most of the time. They can can be heard chatting between (and during) some of the performances. Nice as it is to have this new release it's pretty unlikely that we have a complete copy of those tapes even with the official and the bootleg versions combined.

I've mostly just been listening to the Esher demos and the outtakes. I've read a lot of in house fighting from fans over the 2018 mixes. A lot of gripes of Niles changing and toning down beloved peccadillos from the White Album. Not sure how I feel about that. I do agree with many who say this album is supposed to be down and dirty. That was the style the band was craving at the time and a complete 180 from Pepper a year before. I'm unsure if they should even touch Abbey Road in terms of a remix. Sounds pretty final as is. Then again so did Pepper and The White Album. Who knows. Gimme outtakes, demos and covers. Let It Be might be the best one to go balls out for again.

I think I have to agree about Long Long Long (take 44). Incredible recording.
I can't imagine doing 44 takes of a song in a studio over and over, let alone 102 takes like Not Guilty. I think I remember reading that George was pretty annoyed about something in the band and this was his passive-aggressive way of showing it.

Well a take doesn’t have to be a full attempt at the song or even a half attempt. It could be anything from 3 seconds to 30 minutes.

Yes those 102 takes of NOT GUILTY wouldn't have all been complete. But complete or not, knowing the Beatles it's unlikely all those 102 takes would have been similar either. It's a fair bet there's some fascinating material buried (alongside some dull material) on those unheard 102 takes.

Call me greedy but they should have dumped Lady Madonna, Inner Light and Across The Universe for more WHITE ALBUM outtakes. I still don’t get why non White Album material were included. The Beatles purposely disregarded all songs they had prior to the trip to India for their new album. This kinda breaks those rules and guidelines. I wish someone would ask Niles.

Why not include both? Apparently they could have included around another 80 mins of outtakes to this set without having to add an extra CD. And Giles Martin is telling the press there was "no room" for the 27 minute Helter Skelter?

Should have remixed hey Jude or revolution. That makes more sense to me.
