From the looks of things on the official twitter feed, we might be getting something special for the 50th anniversary for the White Album!
Deluxe boxset with remixed surround sound audio ala last years Pepper release? Dear god, please let this be true.

Did you tweet them? It's pretty funny what happens (and clever too). I won't ruin it for anyone who hasn't.
Can't wait for this to come out. I need the White Album on vinyl.

its hard to get jacked up for "new" Beatles. This is a group that has been mined thoroughly over the last 50 years. Hardly any real gems left. If there were, it would have been released a long long time ago. Sure guys, remix, remaster, show demos and alt takes. Hard to blow my hair back off that.
Love was the last interesting project.

I don't think anyone's really arsed about the unreleased stuff; it's all about getting proper stereo mixes for the first time. But that shit's important. We can't leave the best band of all time with most of their catalogue mixed in pisspoor "fake stereo" any longer.

I'm only interested in the 5.1 mix. I don't like this new trend of doing new stereo mixes of old material. I am well aware of the fact that the Beatles stereo mixes (until the White Album) were ruined by George Martin because he never understood the what stereo is about. The perfect solution is listening to the far superior mono mixes and not creating new mixes that tamper with what the artists wanted back in the day and what people listened to for decades. It just makes no sense to try to re-paint the Mona Lisa every now and then. The 5.1 mix wasn't possible then so I'm okay with that. Demos are nice to listen to once but that's it.

I’d rather they make a movie about the Hamburg days. Down and dirty.

Personally I am looking forward to hearing the outtakes and demos. I've heard bits and pieces but it will be nice to have them all together. That said, I can't imagine that 4 of the 6 discs are demos and outtakes. I'm eager to see what the track listing will be.

We can't leave the best band of all time with most of their catalogue mixed in pisspoor "fake stereo" any longer. This. Maybe it’s for completists only, but then again, the current stereo mixes are appalling. Why they bothered remastering them in 2009 is beyond me as it was tantamount to polishing a turd. It is a fact that the greatest band of all time have largely been neglected of proper audio treatment. Yes, the mono mixes are the go to ones and sound fantastic but for the modern age, we need these albums given the best treatment possible. Mono is fine but that was for back in the day, and it does sound its age with its much more compressed sound. Even Paul McCartney knows how much superior Pepper sounded last year, and that album’s his baby and he always previously preached the merits of mono. Last years Pepper remix and the 2015 ‘1’ remix is the best that The Beatles have ever sounded. I don’t buy this non-argument that it is ‘sacrilege’ tampering with these songs - it’s quite obviously improving the sound quality of these songs and if The Beatles had the technology back then to record like this with this quality and clarity, they’d have done so easily.

I can't imagine that 4 of the 6 discs are demos and outtakes. As there are no Beatles live recordings after '65 (except the rooftop concert), what else do you expect? For the first time THE BEATLES ('White Album') will be re-mixed and extended with additional demo and session recordings. Giles Martin and Sam Okell collaborated with a team of engineers and audio conservators at Abbey Road Studios in London to discuss the new stereo and 5.1. Create surround sound mixes for "The White Album". All new 'White Album' releases include Martin's new stereo album mix, directly from the original four-track and eight-track session bands. Martin's new mix is inspired by the original stereo mix of the album produced by his father George Martin. In the last week of May in 1968, The Beatles gathered in Georges house in Esher, Surrey, where they recorded acoustic demos for 27 album songs. All these 27 recordings, known as Esher Demos, are from the original four-track tapes and are included in the 7-Disc Super Deluxe Box. The extensive 7-Disc Collection contains: CDs 1 & 2: 2018 Stereo Album Mix CD3: Esher demos CDs 4, 5 & 6: Sessions - 50 additional recordings, mostly unpublished, from the studio sessions of the 'White Album'; all remixed from the four-track and eight-track session bands, sorted by their recording start dates. Blu-ray Audio: 2018 album mix in high-resolution PCM stereo 2018 DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 Album mix 2018 Dolby True HD 5.1 album mix 2018 direct transfer of the original monomix of the album forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/50th-anniversary-all-things-beatles-white-album.729833/page-592#post-19585831

I'm a bit rusty on my Beatles knowledge nowadays but surely they recorded a lot of songs for the White Album sessions that didn't make the cut? I know loads of rough acoustic demos exist from this period at least. India, Child Of Nature (Jealous Guy) etc
This would be a perfect opportunity to give us this sort of stuff officially for the first time.
If we get new songs I will be very tempted to get my wallet out for this.

Unrelated to this topic but can someone explain to me why The Beatles albums sound so bad on Spotify? I'm no expert in sound production but it sounds flat and weak, almost unlisteneable. The mp3 files I used to download 15 years ago sounded better.

Cranking up the hype. I'm in Really looking forward to having the Esher demos all in one, as Martin said, it really gives an insight into the creative process. In terms of the stereo remixes, can’t wait to hear Savoy Truffle. That compressed brass made all the more powerful will be really cool!

The new ‘USSR’ Mix sounds incredible! I forked out €150 for the ‘Super Deluxe’ 6CD / Blu-Ray which is madness but this is my favorite album of all time so I think that justifies the price for me.

I'm pretty sure all the content (including from the boxset) will automatically go up on Spotify on day 1 so I think I'll probably just buy the 3CD for collection to begin with, 27 demos on disc 3 is incredible value for money.
I'm not sure disc 4 and 5 justify the £105 price jump though, although those sessions recordings do look very interesting.
I'll probably keep an eye out for a price drop on Amazon for the boxset. I saved about £80 by being patient with the recent GNR boxset the other day on amazon!

...27 demos on disc 3 is incredible value for money... The stereo mix of the BACK IN THE USSR demo is already floating about. Like the handful of demos on Anthology 3 it seems the left channel is the original demo take and the group simply used the right channel for the overdubs. Thankfully it seems there's been no attempt by Apple to create a "center" stereo image for this release via further mixing of the elements. As such it's been possible to easily separate the stereo demos into three different versions by isolating each channel so you end up the original demo, the overdubs onto (and in the background including) the original demo and the final stereo version with both. So the 27 demos on the disc may (for fans) end up being three times that amount.
