What are Paolo’s books like? I’m intrigued to read but also can’t be arsed if it’s not worth it and full of stuff that’s already known He's a very uneven writer. He had great access to Oasis in the 1990s, so in terms of getting some interesting anecdotes and behind the scenes stuff, there's some good material in his books, but he also has a bad habit of putting himself in the story, which is annoying and used A LOT in "Forever the People." It's a few years since I read that one, but I remember one passage where he's talking about Noel complaining that everyone asks him about the Beatles and no one asks him whether he prefers the Jackson 5 or Sly and the Family Stone. So Paolo asks him and it just comes off as really pretentious ... as if he was the Noel-whisperer or something. He also writes about getting shut out from certain band meetings and that Liam and some of the others grew wary of him. I just remember feeling like the book took a hard left turn from "Here's the story of the Be Here Now tour" to "Here's how cool I am because this is the access that I had." It's interesting to me that Weller froze him out a few years ago considering their relationship went WAY back. I also read his book on Steve Marriott, which was interesting because there's not a lot of info on Steve Marriott's life out there in comparison to some of his peers, but it's like Hewitt has a hard on for all these legends and tall tales and then he'll write in the book, "I asked Ian McLagan about it, who said this never happened." So it's basically, here's a whole page of this fantastic tale and a one sentence, "But maybe it never happened" capper. Funnily enough, I was talking to McLagan about this a few years ago, and he contorted his face at the mention of Hewitt's name. "Paolo Hewitt! What the FUCK does he know about the Small Faces? He only knows us because Paul Weller likes us. He knows fuck all about what happened, and yet he's allowed to write a book?"

Great stuff, thanks I’d agree with everything paulislive has said but would add Getting High and Forever The People are mandatory reading for Oasis fans regardless. First hand accounts of the Be Here Now tour! Lager spilt everywhere, backsides waving in the wind and not a scissor to be seen. X

Forever The People was the most depressing book I've read in my life. Noel comes off looking a vagina, Liam comes off looking completely lost in everything. The account of a band fracturing under pressure. One thing I did take from that book was that it was the Be Here Now tour that broke that band up.

Oh anyone of us who follows the band/Shaz on Instagram has probably already seen most of the pictures anyway.

Oh anyone of us who follows the band/Shaz on Instagram has probably already seen most of the pictures anyway. I'm not so certain on this... I've noticed that the number of available photos on their Instagrams/Facebook was drastically downsized from 30 odd pictures during the American tour to 10 odd during the European one, and the latter focusing more on gig photos and less on backstage footage. I wonder if this was done precisely due to the fact that they had decided to put out the book around that time.

I probably won’t buy this, but if he ever comes out with his biography I’ll be first in line. Just not all that interested in stories from just this album cycle. Same, a bio would be great Dibs on being his ghost writer for the biography.

A new book with tour images, interviews and exclusive backstage images will be out on 1st November 'ANY ROAD WILL GET US THERE (IF WE DON’T KNOW WHERE WE’RE GOING)’

For the Dutch/Belgium fans, you can pre-order it on bol.com, 29 Euro. I just pre-ordered mine. Not that this tour is my favourite (it's my least favourite album and tour by Noel to be honest), but pure for my collection.

Reckon Noely G will have signed our copies tonight? I'm wondering what the capacity will be like tonight. If it's small enough we might get lucky and all get a signed copy. You'd think he'd sign a few lucky peoples copies at least. Fingers crossed!

Good night, 90 mins or so interview with Noel and later the book photographer.
Nothing revelatory really - just going through all the stories of how the album, tour and book came together.
But clear that Noel is enjoying this period a heck of a lot.

Can I think of anything to add?
- Back in the studio with David H in Jan and can’t wait - Book is out now “for Christmas!” - Says that he joked to his Mum “why does Liam want to bring Oasis back - all the kids at my gigs are head to toe Pretty Green!” - Wouldn’t choose to go on tour with any other group of people - Says he tries a lot of Oasis songs and they sound shit, the old b-sides tend to work the best - Charlotte was in the crowd and he kept affectionately teasing her - Joked he “fucking misjudged the mood of the nation” when he slagged off people saying It’s Coming Home in the summer - Says he plans to record The Red, The White & The Blue and Slow for the next album (I WISH! Just me kidding. This did not happen).
Book is nice coffee table style. Not essential but a stocking filler.

nobody cares that you don't care, like how nobody will care about this reply, its an endless cycle of not caring.

Can I think of anything to add? - Wouldn’t choose to go on tour with any other group of people . Did he mean he couldn't imagine touring with a better group of people? Or is he envisioning Charlotte, Jessica, and Ysee as permanent members of his live band?

Or is he envisioning Charlotte, Jessica, and Ysee as permanent members of his live band? The former I think - I think he’s just “these are the very best people for me at this moment in time”.
