I never saw charlie lightening until now on one of the ITV videos......guy seems like he is legit trying to be Liam in his mannerisms with a butchers hat on. He looks like hes even wearing the same coat. It's funny you say this because he come up on my feed (I too had never seen him before) and the video was subtitled "funny Liam story". I could have swore it was a Liam impersonator so i thought here we go and stuck it on. Low and behold it was Charlie. By the way he talks about Liam it isn't really a suprise I suppose. I'm bad for bigging up Liam but this bloke has never got out his arse. like someone said really, Im kind of surprised Liam is seemingly fairly close with him, he looks like a complete arse kisser and he seems to think a lot of himself.
I had this image of him as being just a normal, average guy but it seems the co-director is probably the person I thought he was.

Not sure Liam thinks he is that great as he wasn't shy about getting another director in to finish the film for him.

there is just something about people who seemingly try to take on Liams personality that I find absolutely hysterical.

Tbh the lads in that interview arent as bad as you're suggesting. I get that there are plenty of examples of what you are talking about, but they arent exactly mimicing Liam there. And even if they were, Charlie isnt exactly an impressionable Manchester teenager is he?

TBF, you could flip that round too mate. You can know exactly the ones who will hate anything Noel and love anything Liam. I really like Shockwave. It's a banger and a great comeback single. Not sure if it's sustainable for Liam to keep singing about how much he hates a certain someone like but thankfully from what we know that's not gonna be what the album's about and that's great. I enjoyed AIW. I think it suffered a bit from trying to replicate Supersonic in terms of the really emotional moments, but it never quite got there, and then as I've said certain other bits where for my liking it focused too much on other things rather than Liam himself. But it's a good film and I'll be watching it again soon enough. The best bits - and I said this right away on Sunday after watching it - were when Liam was just being himself and being a funny fucker. Yeah all things being equal which they aren't. There are of course similar people from each but the trolls in here are worse. Check the last two pages for confirmation. theyre no worse here than in noels section...go check the WBTM thread for confirmation.

It's almost like they didn't bother to listen to the very first line of their first single, or are too thick to see the irony.

The house in LA that LG and Gene walk out of toward the end of the film was Larry David's house in Curb Your Enthusiasm season 2.

You're comparing apples and oranges. A lot of people in Noel's 'camp' as you put it didn't like the change of direction and said so, a lot of people who like both brothers didn't like the change and said so. From my own perspective I like change and the introduction of new sounds, I just thought the songwriting itself was a bit patchy. There is a difference between that and the same old people since Beady Eye formed coming here wind people up.

I don’t get the Noel v Liam camp. Does it exist? I love the fucking pair of them but absolutely hate WBTM and BSD. There’s no siding with one or the other surely? Unless you’re 8 years old of course.

Some who followed Oasis from the start would have seen Noel was angling for a solo career. Personally I always suspected that was the case. It goes a long way back, it isn't about taking sides, it's much deeper than that.

I think Noel lacked the confidence to break away from oasis until 2009, at which point his relationship with Liam had reached a point where it was no longer workable so he finally made the move into a solo career. Before that point, maybe he was worried that it just wouldnt be successful or just wouldnt measure up to what oasis was doing. After 2009, it didnt really matter, oasis wasnt fun for him anymore and it wasnt like DOYS set the world alight.
I wouldnt be surprised if Noel has already decided that the DOYS tour would be the last oasis tour (maybe not totally break up oasis) after the issues recording DOYS and then the bust up with Liam happened and Noel just decided to go home early, maybe even thinking it would be a good excuse to leave and reduce backlash from fans.
I highly highly doubt that Noel was still in the mindset that oasis would continue during the last tour. I think he certainly decided to take a hiatus if nothing else, he even spoke about doing this if he hadnt of walked out in paris.

Even the AA said Noel approached them about a solo album in 2008. He knew he was making a solo record. I dont think it was quite as sinister as Liam believes though. I think he was quite open about the fact it was going to happen and they could have all gone and done seperate things for a while. Yet, he also probably knew Liam would be furious about him going solo and probably just had to sit and watch it all implode so he had a reason to finally quit.

Like I say, I think Noel likely wanted a hiatus from oasis, maybe do their own things and come back together some years down the line. I dont think the relationship issue is irrelevant at all tbh. The relationship with Liam was probably a driving factor into him completely leaving oasis instead or just taking a break. Noels plan to release a solo album in 2008 would just be the original hiatus plan.

He mentioned doing a solo album around Be Here Now I think and did his little acoustic thing halfway through gigs and did his collaborations with Goldie and The Chemical Brothers but I don’t think he was after a solo career back then. It’s daft taking sides anyway - it’s not like it’s City v United.

Noel always wanted to a solo album, Liam used to say in interviews that it can’t happen whilst he’s in Oasis, it was always something that was going to get in the way along the way. As we speak right now, I like most of Noel’s stuff that he’s bringing out BUT I don’t get excited about his stuff like I do with Liam’s, don’t know what that comes down to really but Liam knows what he is & knows what he should be doing.

The next album after DOYS was always going to be a Noel solo album. Obviously what happened after meant the end of Oasis. But i kind of feel like Noel knew how to press those buttons he wanted to press enough and eventually it all imploded exactly how he wanted.

I dont personally believe that their bust up in paris was all that much of big deal tbh. However if you are looking for a reason to get out then you are going to jump ship the moment something happens, no matter how bad it actually is because your kinda already wanting to go anyway. You are mentally checked out so just need the final nudge. Liam kicking off allowed Noel to act like he was forced out purely by his behaviour when he possibly was quite happy to leave anyway, I dont believe Noel still had grand plans for oasis at that point in time. As it went down, he could divert any annoyance by fans onto Liam. He practically threw everyone under the bus during that press conference whilst taking no responsibility himself. It was a case of "it was their fault, not mine". his solo career in the end by his way of putting things wasnt created out of choice but rather because he was left with no other choice. <iframe width="17.58000000000004" height="8.04000000000002" style="position: absolute; width: 17.58000000000004px; height: 8.04000000000002px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none;left: 15px; top: -5px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_40428630" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="17.58000000000004" height="8.04000000000002" style="position: absolute; width: 17.58px; height: 8.04px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 825px; top: -5px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_8831046" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="17.58000000000004" height="8.04000000000002" style="position: absolute; width: 17.58px; height: 8.04px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 15px; top: 338px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_72215936" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="17.58000000000004" height="8.04000000000002" style="position: absolute; width: 17.58px; height: 8.04px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 825px; top: 338px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_14127666" scrolling="no"></iframe>
