I guess this interview confirms there will be no oasis songs at all. Just realised I might be able to spot myself in this film as I was at the Ritz gig. Shame that acapella version of Live Forever can’t be shown. X

Some people can't be serious that they think the lack of Oasis songs won't be a major issue for this documentary.
For example the RnR Star opening, the comeback of Some Might Say, some epic Slide Away-versions, Rockin' Chair & Listen Up, Live Forever at One Love, DLBIA at Glastonbury, ... were all essential parts of his comeback and liveshows. None of that can be shown. That sucks a lot.

Are they gonna skip that completely, or show the footage with a voiceover instead of the actual audio?

We can all watch any of that if we want on YouTube or whatever and we all have the songs already. I want behind the scenes stuff that we don’t usually get to see.

However I think Liam's story is an interesting one and being a charismatic personality I think this could be a really good portrait of the man in a way we haven't seen before. I haven't been keeping up with it too much, was this a Noel decision to refuse permission for the songs?

Wouldn't have thought Noel could do that, as he is not the songwriter?
NG is of course entitled to block his songs from the film, with LG digging him out in every interview, tweet, etc. However it is the fans that lose out. Disappointing move.

Its just the latest effort in his bid to seperate his and Oasis's legacy from all the others in the band.

Interesting that the director says Noel blocked them using Oasis songs Liam wrote too. Didn't think it was legally possible! Does Noel own the publishing rights to every single Oasis song ever released, including the ones Gem & Andy wrote as well?

Does Noel own the publishing rights to every single Oasis song ever released, including the ones Gem & Andy wrote as well? It's confusing. "For example, we weren't able to use Oasis music in the documentary because Noel owns the publishing rights and refused it, even though Liam wrote some of those songs." www.rte.ie/entertainment/2019/0526/1051813-noel-blocked-use-of-oasis-music-in-new-liam-film/

Irish documentary maker Gavin Fitzgerald has revealed:"We weren't able to use Oasis music in the documentary because Noel owns the publishing rights and refused it, even though Liam wrote some of those songs."
Noel is the "don vito Corleone" Of Oasis.

Best case scenario for Liam is that anything owned by "Oasis" as an entity, is split 50-50 between Noel and Liam, with each retaining veto power over the other. Worst case, Noel owns more than 50% and has all the power.

Kinda like how Ashcroft could yay or nay Verve projects and releases.

I thought everything post Be here now was owned by Big brother, so both Liam and Noel together, requiring both to sign off on usage. Does it really much matter though, it’s the early Noel songs that Liam is singing. He’s not out there flogging Little James anyway

When Noel joined Oasis he required that every song in the band's repertoire be credited to him, no matter whether he'd actually written it or not, so he wanted complete control over the music from the onset. I guess he made sure it remained that way ever after.

Probably means restricted to people over 15 because of the constant swearing.

Is this because Take Me was around before Noel joined?
