Of course he’s always been a dick, and that was a part of what made the Gallaghers what they were. It’s who he’s being a dick TO that’s changed.
I’ve said it before, but a scrappy young nobody from Manchester punching up at the boring old establishment like Phil Collins was one thing. A middle-age multimillionaire who’s married to a model and has Madonna over for parties spitting down at “parka monkeys” is quite another.

First Noel was a dick to The Real People, and I did not speak out- Because I was not a member of The Real People.
Then Noel was a dick to Tony McCarroll, and I did not speak out- Because I was not Tony McCarroll.
Then Noel was a dick to Damon Albarn, and I did not speak out- Because I was not Damon Albarn.
Then Noel was a dick to Jack White, and I did not speak out- Because I was not Jack White.
Then Noel was a dick to Liam Gallagher, and I did not speak out- Because I was not Liam Gallagher.
Then Noel was a dick to Gaz Cobain, and I did not speak out- Because I was not Gaz Cobain.
Then Noel was a dick to me - and there was no one left to speak for me. _____

Don't particularly care too much what Noel says/does, mainly only the music tbh as I've said before. Just commenting on some posts in this thread which seem to imply that being someone being a dick's fine just as long as it's not directed to them. Personally, if I was an Oasis/LG/NG fan throughout all of that, I'd have criticised Noel throughout. When I started on here in late 2014/early 2015, spent most of my time arguing in favour of Amorphous Androgynous/Gaz Cobain when all that stuff from Noel was coming out in interviews. And back then, people weren't as vociferously against Noel for everything he was being accused of (hiding his debut from AA, not being involved with the work, credits, lying about destroying the masters, etc.) as people seem to be against him now primarily for making an off-hand comment about 'parka monkeys', amongst other relatively minor things.

What I find funny is Noel lauds Weller and Neil Young (for 2) now those 2, whether you like their output or not put out the type of music they want when they want and they play 75% of their new album live on that tour. In a lot of cases they gig the new stuff before the album has come out - they don't release it 6 months before a tour so fans get to know it
Noel doesn't have the bollocks to do that, They don't then go on a massive press binge justifying their new music in case someone doesn't like it.
For someone whose whole persona is to not give a fuck Noel isn't half sensitive to criticism. I think Noel's solo stuff started middle of the road and got increasingly beige, I was excited for WBTM but it's shite and if anyone else had released it Noel would be the first one to call it shite.
But that doesn't matter, if Noel really through it was 'out there' and really didn't care what people thought he'd release it, tour it and that would be that. Doesn't need the press circus justifying something he claims to not care what other people think of.
Methinks sir you doth protest to much

However, I do know that Neil Young, when he records, often records live off the floor and does very little overdubbing. There have been a few exceptions to this - Le Noise for example was much more of a production but that was fairly unique - but for the most part that's how he records. If he plays the songs live before the record comes out, he's not doing so much because of his confidence but because he's using the concert as a kind of rehearsal space for working out the way that he will do it on the record. He's also extraordinarily restless - eager to get on to the next thing. I do wish we'd see a bit more of that in Noel - that way we'd get more albums. But we both know he doesn't work like that - he's lazy, he gets set in his way, and he wants things to get out to the public in a very particular way. But I don't think that's a lack of confidence. It's just always been his way of working.

Hasn't Noel been knighted yet? That would put him in the proper social circles. He would never allow pictures of himself riding around on a bicycle and being a goofball. Liam is more relatable these days and Noel seems like Zeus out on Mount Olympus.

This whole vitriolic anti-Noel takeover is a bit weird. Nobody here is Anti-Noel. We all love Noel. He's just gotten a bit posh.

The bit about Ashcroft. Seriously. Wtf was that? The fact that Ashcroft doesn't write his own songs isn't even true (or is it?) Yes, Noel has always been a dick, but I always felt he was a dick towards most things that we, fans, thought were shit. You know, pop music/artists etc. As for his politics, he used to be labour. Nothing wrong with that, especially in the 90's. Now becoming center? Saying that Thatcher was kinda good cause it inspired the art at that time? (He said that, didn't he?). I voted Yes. You don't call Ashcroft out for no reason, mate.

Margaret Thatcher was hot. The day she died I had a mini celebration with a four pack of Guinness. True story.

Thanks for the link! Relevant bit transcribed below because the interview's only available for listening for a few more weeks and this thread will live4ever. Noel: I'm having a bit of a showbiz week this week. I went for lunch the other day, and sat in the next seat to me was Noel Edmunds, right. And he said to me, when he finished, he said - I'd never met him, and my missus was going, "No way, that's Noel Edmunds!" - and he kind of looked at me, and he said, "It's great to finally meet you after all these years, you know, because we've never met, you know, 'cos with all the jokes and that." And I was like, "What jokes? What are you talking about?" And he went, "You know, 'cos..." And I was like, "What jokes are you talking about? Are people taking the mickey out of me to you?" And he said "Well no, but you know." And I was like... It was kind of an awkward silence and I was like, "Well enjoy your sea bass." The jokes, because of all the jokes! And I was thinking, "What jokes? It wasn't me dressed as Mr Blobby all those years." Interviewer: (laughing) "I've never heard a joke before!" Noel: "I don't know!" Interviewer: "Edmunds, let us know."
