Which is the album or live act that hasn't fulfilled your expectations this 2017?
Mine, without a doubt, would be Humans by Gorillaz. Hated it when it came out and gave it another chance yesterday with same result. I didn't like Plastic Beach when it came out and now I love it, but this time I don't think I'll ever change my mind, the songs are too repetitive and I'm not a fan of the style.
I'm sure is not a bad record, is just not working for me. Damon's voice is why I listen to a Gorillaz album and in this one is almost absent, he had to release a stand alone single sung by him because critics pointed to it and is the best song of this album circle "Sleeping Powder".
So, what's yours?

Cannibal Corpse- Red Before Black (as much as I like them, the zombie theme is too much repetition).

So, what's yours? Plastic Beach is a masterpiece imo, loved when I first heard it. Demon Days is probably Damon Albarn greatest work. Human's I think is patchy but it's better then half the stuff that came out this year. I do agree less of Damon doesn't make for a great album, to make matters worse a few days after it's release he's releases Sleeping Powder which is better then nearly most of Humanz. But I do think it had too many cooks in the kitchen. But it was voted Q's album of the year by fans lol. I wouldn't be surprised if we get a quick follow to the album the next year or two.

For me Humanz was also a big disappointment, yeah.

Damon said in an interview in France last week that he has almost finished a new TGTBATQ and a new Gorillaz album which will be ready in March 2018. I don't think it will be a real album (because Jaimie needs almost 2 years to make the illustrations for each record), it'll probably be something like The Fall.

For me Humanz was also a big disappointment, yeah. Way tooooooooooooooooooooooo many singers. Damon needed to be featured more. It’s like he is the guest on his own album. I still wanna head the original demo for We Got The Power with just Damon, Graham and Noel. The studio versions allegedly has Noel on it but you’ll have to have Jedi focus to hear it. Could be anyone.

The album is uneven as hell. I’ll give you that. Plenty of golden nuggets worth the priceless alone. - Everything Now - Signs of Life - Creature Comfort - Electric Blue - Put Your Money On Me - We Don’t Deserve Love That’s half the album and some of their strongest material to date.

Kind of. Not really a disappointment cos it's fucking Arcade Fire and they alredy accomplished so much but the last album is average. Their musicianship is still great but the songs aren't good enough. I save Creature Comfort and We Don't Deserve Love. And I might be in the minority but I really don't like Everything Now.

Everything Now is just one centrepiece away from being a great album. The middle just kind of lines up a long of individually decent interlude tracks that feel even more interludish when put together. However, you can take some of them out and you're left with a 42 minute record that I think is pretty damn good:
EVERYTHING NOW 1) Everything_Now 2) Everything Now 3) Signs of Life 4) Creature Comfort 5) Peter Pan 6) Electric Blue 7) Good God Damn 8) Put Your Money on Me 9) We Don't Deserve Love 10) Everything_Now (Continued)

Humans for me as well, as soon as I heard the singles the hype immediately died for me. Annoyingly enough pretty soon after the album was released they put out Sleeping Powder which would've easily been my favourite song on the album.

Humanz definitely. The album's a mess, the songs are a mess - none of the craftsmanship of Demon Days. Just a load of tunes that don't amount to anything or go anywhere. It's got all the Gorillaz ingredients but does absolutely nothing with them.

Maybe Royal Blood. As enjoyable as they are, expected more from their 2nd album. It’s just the same as the first but part 2. Good song writing though.

The album simply has way too many stud tracks to be considered a dud. Even negative reviews site 3-4 songs are awesome. So then you have to ask yourself, are they even being truthful with their reviews or just buying into the pre-build album narrative of a struggling band.

HAIM's second LP, Something To Tell You. It's not really a bad record, but I had such high expectations for it... it's my personal disappointment. It's kinda derivative and all the songs follow the exact same structure. The singles are really strong and I love them, especially Want You Back and Little Of Your Love, but that's about it. Their first effort was miles, miles better.

Agree 100%, I think the album was very meh for me plus it took them ages to release it, nearly 3 and a half years, alright for a band who released a few albums already. But they only had their debut if they released Something To Tell You near the end of 2015 it wouldn't have been too bad but the long wait took the sting from them. Less hanging out with Taylor Swift and doing photo shoots, and write a quick follow up and change the sound up a little or I could see the sisters in the "What Happened to.." bracket. Shame as I think there is talent in them.

I have to second Everything Now. I wasn't entirely sold on the singles, but I was enjoying them and was convinced the rest of the album would be better. Chemistry is an absolute monstrosity, Peter Pan is embarrassing and the best songs are merely average compared to their previous work. Don't think I've ever been that disappointed by one of my all-time favorites.
Thought the new Queens of the Stone Age and Fleet Foxes were entirely forgettable as well.

When you combine the 4 singles with Put Your Money On Me and We Don't Deserve Love, the album looks pretty strong. People are really only dumping on 2-3 songs. More than half the album is extremely strong.

Listened to it exactly once, whereas I still listen quite often to their first two (mostly their first) albums, especially at this time of year. The new album has too many insanely long songs that don't really go anywhere.

Another one I really wanted to like, but just couldn't get into: Ti Amo by Phoenix. Thought Bankrupt! was underrated, had some pop gems on it, but this new one is completely forgettable other than Telephono. I have to second Everything Now. I desperately tried to love it, but sadly it leaves me cold. I have to second Everything Now. Same goes for that new Father John Misty, though he really sells it all live.

i really like a couple of the tracks on there ('the man', 'have all the songs been written'), but i have listened to the album only twice all the way through since it was released.
