Another one I really wanted to like, but just couldn't get into: Ti Amo by Phoenix. Thought Bankrupt! was underrated, had some pop gems on it, but this new one is completely forgettable other than Telephono. totally agree with you. geez, you know something i forgot all about that 'ti amo' even came out this year. agreed that 'bankrupt!' was underrated as well. of course,'wolfgang amadeus phoenix' was their masterpiece and i don't think they will ever come close to matching or topping that one. To me Bankrupt! has stronger individual tracks (Trying To Be Cool might be my favourite Phoenix song) but I felt Ti Amo is more consistent as an album. Could do without tracks 7-9 but the rest are all great.

Haven't heard nearly as much as I would like but I was disappointed in the new Beck album and didn't care for what I heard from the new Temples album.

Thought Bankrupt! was underrated, had some pop gems on it, but this new one is completely forgettable other than Telephono. When you combine the 4 singles with Put Your Money On Me and We Don't Deserve Love, the album looks pretty strong. People are really only dumping on 2-3 songs. More than half the album is extremely strong. Problem is two of the singles do absolutely nothing to me (Creature Comfort and Signs fo Life), neither do Put Your Money on Me or We Don't Deserve Love. I desperately tried to love it, but sadly it leaves me cold. Oh yeah, the new Fleet Foxes. Listened to it exactly once, whereas I still listen quite often to their first two (mostly their first) albums, especially at this time of year. The new album has too many insanely long songs that don't really go anywhere. Thats it none of the tunes go anywhere, and I usually like longer songs. Same goes for that new Father John Misty, though he really sells it all live. Didn't he used to be in Fleet Foxes too?

Fever Ray - Plunge
It's just not up to the same level as her last release.

Taylor Swift. Say what you will about her brand of pop, but she could at least be counted on to deliver catchy, inoffensive songs. "Look What You Made Me Do" is tuneless, boring, and obnoxious. When you're big enough to get nearly anyone to agree to work with you, you'd think she could at least be consistent.

Try Getaway Car, Delicate (my personal favorite), Don't Blame Me, I Did Something Bad and New Year's Day.

I know a lot of people who had mixed feelings with Reflektor which I personally loved. So if you didn't like that one you probably wanted a return to form from AF but they went even further down the dance rabbit hole with Everything Now. Could turn people off to that sound I guess.

the killers - wonderful wonderful i really like a couple of the tracks on there ('the man', 'have all the songs been written'), but i have listened to the album only twice all the way through since it was released. For me they haven't done anything of greatness since Sam's Town. The last few records have had some good stuff on there but nothing memorable plus it's pretty much a Brandon Flowers and sidemen now isn't it as half the band don't tour anymore. don't get me started on his solo stuff. Also Arcade Fire haven't released a great album since the Suburbs, their last two albums have been very so-so.

I have to second Everything Now. I wasn't entirely sold on the singles, but I was enjoying them and was convinced the rest of the album would be better. Chemistry is an absolute monstrosity, Peter Pan is embarrassing and the best songs are merely average compared to their previous work. Don't think I've ever been that disappointed by one of my all-time favorites. Some of the singles are really good plus Put Yer Money On Me and We Don't Deserve Love, but the rest are total garbage: Peter Pan totally embarrassing, Chemistry horrendous, Good God Damn boring, the two Infinite Contet are throwaways and Electric Blue is one of the most annoying songs this year, those falsettos get on your nerves pretty fast. All in all a forgettable album, yeah it's well produced, but production alone doesn't save an album, I can't believe they had four years to do it and only came with this.

It's weird because I love Reflektor, warts and all. It instantly reminded me of The Clash's Sandinista!, a genre-hopping trip thats as ambitious as it is messy. Everything Now feels like the watered down remainders, Peter Pan is about as terrible as Flashbulb Eyes. Perhaps they need James Murphy's guidance to give their music the edge I want from it.

Win said that when they did small private gigs to 50+ people about a year ago in New Orleans to road test all new material, he stated that’s Chemistry got the biggest reaction. All positive and they considered it as a single. That must have been a bad test audience. Jesus Christ.

The Stone Roses split without an álbum could be counted?

The Stone Roses split without an álbum could be counted? Biggest disappointment of 2017 is The Stone Roses comeback song ‘All For One’. Released in 2016 but so unbelievably shite that the disappointment lingered into this year.

The Roses comeback is a really weird one. They went into the studio for four years after the reunion, being weirdly secretive about the process, then they come back with the first Stone Roses song in over two decades and it's absolutely dreadful. Why the hell didn't they release Beautiful Thing first? Did they really only write two tunes, or is the rest even worse than All for One and they decided not to taint their legacy?
Honestly, their split now just means we avoided a much bigger disappointment.

I'd say the Verve's Urban Hymns deluxe box. In the end we got the unreleased session tracks (Sweet and Sour, Wednesday Madness, etc) but they really should have been included in there properly.

As much as I love their debut and the b-sides, I regret seeing The Stone Roses over Grinderman at Coachella years ago. What a lifeless performance, Fools Good reduced to a dull drone. Even then, I didn't expect them to drop the ball so spectacularly with those new singles.

They also put the b-sides on the 5 CD super deluxe version while the 2 CD version has some live versions instead. Annoys the hell out of me - I want those b-sides, but I don't want to pay 50+ bucks for additional live versions and a DVD. Seems like a cash grab.

I think you're paying the kind of money you would for a big boxset like that (or any other), you really should get it all. It's not casual fans buying these, its the biggest fans and completists so its kind of insulting to purposely leave things off there. What was the reason for this omission? Richard Ashcroft not signing off on those tracks or something? Is it true McCabe leaked them?
