IMO, they are all very close to eachother, as far as overall quality is concerned. CY confidently last, though, for all its generic bullshit.

NGHFB WBTM? CY
CY has aged the worst, imo. It has great highs -- Riverman, WTSRTS, BOTMI -- but some lows, too (Girl with X-Ray Eyes). I can already tell WBTM will surpass it in the long run, but NGHFB just holds a special place in my heart. It's more consistent.

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds Chasing Yesterday Simples. Far more “generic bullshit” on the first album in my opinion. Six years on and I can’t ever see me wanting to listen to most of that record again. In fact only Everybody’s on the Run still excites me. Most of the songs have exactly the same structure (finishing with the opening line), the production is hideous in parts and the instrumentation is dull as dishwater. WBTM (at the moment) CY NGHFB

WBTM (at the moment) CY NGHFB Personally I don't get the hate for his first record, or Chasing Yesterday for that matter! I'd probably say WBTM edges it as I like the direction he's going, with CY a close second, and NGHFB a close third. I don't dislike any of them though.

1. Who Built The Moon 2. Chasing Yesterday 3. NGHFB This. The production on songs like 'If I Had A Gun...', 'Record Machine' and, especially, 'Stop The Clocks' did ruin those tracks a bit, because I think those are three of the strongest songs Noel MK II had written.

Too soon to judge because WBTM sounds so new to me. I listened a fuckload but I still don't feel familiar with the album. I guess it takes some time. Maybe if I could hear Noel in some songs would easy things up. I can't sing parts of the song because I don't really know what the fuck is he saying. But so far I would go:
- CY: Got some weak tracks (TRS,ITHOTM,TGWX-RE) but the highest points are absolutely brilliant (Riverman,TDOTL,WTSRTS,BOTMi)
- NGHFB: This album will always be special to me. What a summer that was. But some of the tracks are total mmmmmmehhh (Record Machine,Dream On,STC) and others that are magical to me (EIOTR,IIHAG,AKAWAL,SB&JS,SOTWB). But overall I like the songs, they feel really personal.
- WBTM: As I said, its too soon to judge. To me you're used to an album when you can hum the songs in your head, and I still can't. But I think is a consistent record, but they didn't sell it as a joyful album,I was expecting some trippy adventure. Thats alright,I can forgive it. But it doesn't really got that much of standout tracks. Of course,BCWYWF and TMWBTM are gold. But can you really tell that the rest of the album could beat WTSRTS? Not for me. That song is what I was looking for with the album. Noel archetypical songwriting style but a complete different sound. And the only songs that gives me that feeling is DITW and is not even in the album and its just an acoustic take. But well,we'll see in a couple of weeks.

Only highlight for me is DITW) Same opinion. WBTM hasn't any great song that I will revisited in a few years, I'm pretty sure. I really hope next album Noel comes into studio with great songs instead write them in the studio. By the way, Holmes did a great job with the sound of this album, the problem is with Noel, all the song are forgettable.

NGHFB probably has the best set of songs, not surprising though, a fair few of them were old. At that point, it would be a worry if Noel couldn't release a first solo album with quite a few good tracks when he's pulling songs from the past too. I think that the production of the album does the job for the songs even if it's nothing interesting. It would probably would've been perfect if the AA album got released just after, then it would have served as a nice contrast between songs easy to listen to and more experimental stuff. NGHFB is probably a 7/10.
I rank CY and WBTM about the same, around 5/10. CY has a few songs that are much better than anything on WBTM though, but also some things on CY that verge too much on cliche dad rock. I think CY lacks a bit of character too. WBTM might have a lack of really good songs, but has some vibe to it. All things weighed up, they're about equal to me.
