Is the 12 inch mix of BSD just a longer version of the "regular" version or it a different mix? it's a longer version...but nothing relevant!

I'm enjoying like crazy listening to both Gallaghers! Noel is pure class and Liam is a fucking rock'n'roll star!

I actually really like Sail On, although first listen I was thinking 'oh a lot of people won't like this'. Still prefer Rattling Rose, but both shit all over the monstrosity that is Black Star Dancing

I like all three new sounds to varying degrees with Sail On being the best of the bunch. I'm not very keen on the 3 E.P. strategy. It's quite hard to get things like that In New Zealand. I know I can order it from the UK but that is paying for shipping three times. Not sure if I should just wait until all three have been released or maybe they will be compiled into an album.

For someone with supposedly so many songs and ideas I find the EP extremely underwhelming.
Don't get me wrong i love Sail On and I'm a big fan of Black Star Dancing, but we keep hearing about all these songs Noel has and for him to blast out a song on the last day of studio time by ripping off David Bowie is a bit shitty.
You just get the feeling he could be doing so many better songs than hes making atm. Black Star Dancing and Sail On are good Noel songs but album Noel songs at most. I always imagined an EP of Noels being absolutely mega because no matter what album he ever used to put out, he'd always make at least 4 great songs. This time around it feels like he's just bashed a couple of tracks out to stay out there.

Its not so much the style of music hes making, its just the quality of the songs. The depth for the most part isnt there. Just depends on whether Noel will make a comeback at some point or whether he will just become like coldplay and become "used to be good". Even someone like bowie had his years where things weren't that great. I know Noel hasnt been on his 90s level for a long time so hes probably already in that "used to be good" margin for many people. I just feel like things have gone down another level. a song like sail on is like coldplay's everglow imo. It gives a glimpse back into what they used to be, even if you wouldnt put it up with their best work. of course, its all subjective, if people are enjoying this era of Noel then I don't have a problem with that, Im not saying its factually true that what hes doing now is of reduced quality. Its just my opinion.

Then he suddenly has this attack of conscience that he won't be looked at as an evolved artist unless he makes music obviously out his comfort zone. Nothing wrong with that if you "let the songs find you" as he so often says. Don't go forcing it like he is doing because its just ending up with good songs that he thinks are incredible. He's still capable of incredible and shouldn't waste time.

I think the 'Mancunian' EP will be the one that I prefer the most.
I don't mind this one (I bought two versions for the collection FFS!) but I don't think I will be reaching for it that regularly.
As others have said it will be fun to make a playlist for the 4 EP's combined that he eventually releases this year and turn them into an album.

Is it just me, or the review "reads" higher than the score?

I was listening to his isle of wight festival interview earlier and he seemingly said that black star dancing was was his most successful solo single (I dont know how that can be true) then went on to say something on the back that that amounted to questioning why he bothers to write music if he can just go in the studio, write a tune in 15 minutes and then get to headline a festival.
nothing in that interview made it sound like Noel has any interest in going back to writing like he used to and his general laziness will probably only reinforce that mindset.
he basically sounds like a gaming company that used to make great games but has realised that he can make the same if not more money by releasing the same game every year with a slightly different paint job without half the effort.

I love 'Rattling Rose', but am not arsed by the other two (and can't stick remixes).
Bring on the next one, then.

If he thinks he is headlining a festival on the strength of his current music then he is kidding himself on. Same goes for Liam.

They gave a good review and then remembered it was that pesky Gallagher brother from Oasis so marked it down.

...those that have heard it have told Noel it's "the best thing he's done in 20 years". Big expectations here... So only his wife has heard it so far? sick burn m8

To paraphrase Noel, Pitchfork is one of those media-types that would give 10/10 to Thom Yorke for sh*tting in a hat.

"It took me a long f***ing time to write it, because I could never get the chorus right, and when I eventually finished it I was like 'That's the f***ing b******s. It really is. It's amazing.' Even the title is very Mancunian." For those of us not in the loop, what is the word "b*******s" and what does it mean?

To paraphrase Noel, Pitchfork is one of those media-types that would give 10/10 to Thom Yorke for sh*tting in a hat. And yet they haven’t given Thom’s solo albums very high scores. 6.6 and 6.3. Atoms For Peace got a 6.9. His soundtrack got an 8.0. Hmmmmmm............

The three new songs aren't for me, I think they're too basic and bland. But no issues with him doing something a bit different.
