How is Holy Mountain dance? He says dance a lot in it Tom Lehrer says a lot of metals in the Elements song, but you wouldn't see Ozzy Ozmond covering it.

dude, you wanna call it pop? fine. sounds like a bad 80s pop tune. make it a 80s rock tune. still not gonna like it. Black Star Dancing is slow disco. Holy Mountain is energetic pop. Nothing alike, other than neither of them sounding like If I Had a Gun. If I had a Gun is so cheesy it gives me hives they also don't sound anything like his good tracks: The Masterplan, Supersonic, Live Forever, even TMWBTM. and that is the problem for me

Interesting reaction to Sail On. Personally think that it is a nice little tune, but no more than a throw away B Side. I think people are loving it all the more because it is slightly more 'traditional' compared to BSD. Listen to that tune 3 years ago, and nobody would be bothered. Release it now and it is nostalgic. Just proves that Noel is making a bit of a mistake with his new creative direction. To who? It's b-side material, but let's not act like this place hasn't overreacted to b-side material since forever. But sure, peddle confirmation bias and opinion as fact.

The point is that Black Star Dancing and Holy Mountain don't at all sound alike, and people shouldn't lump their sound together.

not true. I expressed many times how much I dislike HM, BSD and those sort of songs. I never liked Chinatown. I don't like any of the remixes. I'm sure the other mods have things they don't like as well. like the times we didn't agree with things said on twitter or interviews. I guess you missed many previous posts we have opinions as much as any other fan, it's just we focus on the things we like rather than the ones we don't, trying to make this place enjoyable for everyone. we don't lose sleep if a song isn't good or a music video doesn't have too many views. it's not worth the hate some people spew Daily reminder that Black Star Dancing sounds fuck-all like Holy Mountain. Agreed, Black star dancing sounds a bit like WAL (only that it's not as good), but nothing like WBTM. Actually, I think it's Rattling Rose the song that sonically may have some hints in of songs like If Love is the Law and other bits in WBTM The only other connection I can see with WBTM is he trying to sound different from his typical sound and trying each song to have its own style. Even Sail on, which is more classical, has a pop air which is new for him and has an atypical structure (for Noel) with no clear chorus

I love how this place is full of hate usually but the moderators are always happy with anything the Gallaghers do Not true at all. I'm not always happy with anything my favourite musicians/bands do, so are the other mods/every member. and I'm sure many of us on here agree what I said in my last post. We've been witnessed Gallaghers during and after Oasis. We wouldn't have thought that we get new music by both Gallaghers like now when they called a day nearly 10 years ago. Even their music are not similar anymore, it's great to see they keep doing what they started. Music is all matters. I could have posted my comment above in Liam section as well.

It's funny, I remember a lot of people waiting for Noel to do an EP that is a stylistic departure from his albums for years. Obviously he's not gonna fire off three amazing tracks on an EP, those are gonna go on the next album.
BSD is pretty much what I expected it to be. The songs are decent but not top shelf material. The sound and style are new, but lean on the direction of Noel's solo stuff. The reaction to this has surprised me often enough, Holy Mountain was described on here like it was an electro song sampling Drake, while it really is what Noel does best - a riff on 1960's style pop. Just replaces the guitars from Oasis with other instruments.

It took me a few listens for it to get going for me, but I am liking Sail On. I’m getting a more beachy and breezy It’s Better People.

It’s got a bit of The Dying Of The Light about it too I reckon (the melody from the “I tried my best to get there, but I can’t afford the bus fare...” part)

So...when do we think we'll hear the lead track from the next EP??? So far, we've heard it's "Mancunian" and like the Chemical Brothers and those that have heard it have told Noel it's "the best thing he's done in 20 years". Big expectations here...

Is the 12 inch mix of BSD just a longer version of the "regular" version or it a different mix?

Better than the majority of Chasing Yesterday, a lot of that album being fucking dreck.
