Really liked "Sail on" on first listen, it has a nice lilting melody, might end up being my favourite of this small batch of new songs.
However I didn't expect to get this type of song on an EP featuring "Black star dancing" as the A-side. What a motley set of songs!

Wow, I'm quite surprised how cute and genuine Sail On is! I'd readily rank it among the best songs Noel has written for his solo career. A perfect mix of bittersweet goodbye, light and playful, and forward determination. Less throwaway than I'd Pick You Everytime, nor nearly as sickly saccharine as She Is Love, or as goofy as Leave My Guitar Alone, it almost sounds like the culmination of all of the songs that he'd written in this vein up until this point. Like the final refinement of a sound that won't ever be topped again. Plus, it's so spontaneous and down-to-earth that it hurts.

Oh look. People love a song that some had written off without hearing.

And yes, really wasn't expecting anything like this! Totally different to what I thought it would be.

Gorgeous little folksy song. Best on the EP. Noel in campfire mode, makes me happy <3 This! Defo B-side material though.

As others have said, this is exactly what I'd Pick You Every Time or She Is Love should have been.
Noel has been trying to write a song like this one for years but I think he's finally succeeded. It's not groundbreaking, but it's a lovely little tune. It's got that typical Noel bittersweetness that we all love.

I feel like this is the sequel to Id pick you everytime. difference being that it strikes a perfect balance between the ending of something and the pain that comes with that and understanding that you've got to move on and look towards your future. its a combination that puts you in a fuzzy place between sadness and hopefulness.

What's he singing?:
"Tell the girl behind the counter that 'I'd love to watch, but soon I must be gone,' Sail On, Tell the world I'm gonna miss them when I've gone to find the place where I belong"?
That it?

That it? Or is it that he's telling the girl behind the counter that "I loved her once"? A tad hard to make out...

What an incredibly sweet song that is. Beautiful.
Somewhat surprised by it, can’t say I’ve been impressed by the dullness of recent tunes from him after the colourful WBTM - but of all the songs I’ve heard from the Gallaghers in recent weeks, this is my favourite.

She Is Love is even worse than Iz Rite as worst Oasis related single

Sail on is a nice little song but a bit bland. This EP is like three courses of cream soup. Well, maybe the next one will be more to my liking.

Sail On has such simplistic beauty. Noel's voice carries it so well and the arrangement & production is just perfect. The writing is effortless, too, and flows so well. I liked Rattling Rose and Black Star Dancing but this feels just right and so natural for Noel that it's probably my favorite of the three. These three have been a fun trio of songs, though. You can hear in Noel's music that he's at a point in his life where he's enjoying himself but is trying new things, and I applaud him for that.
