I can’t stop listening to Think Of A Number.
Such an odyssey of emotion and melody….you can feel him struggling between despair and hope.
Might be one of his best ever for me — and that includes Oasis songs.

Alive and kicking at #25 (which you'd think it's terrible but for context both FF and Niall Horan who was #1 last week are behind him), I hope they can do a bit of promo when he's back for the UK tour, would be nice if it got a decent run which is rare these days

Indeed, which is why most records these days get top 5 first week and then have massive drops unless you have big streams Physicals and downloads are made of decent numbers for a couple of weeks (if you're lucky) and that's it because those who were interested bought the album when it came out, then the big acts hold on through streaming services (if you have a look now: The Weeknd, Capaldi, Harry Styles) and the rest just disappear

I'm still impressed to see Morning Glory and Definitely Maybe in the top 100 and Council Skies is doing pretty good isn't it? I would've thought it would be off the charts after the first week but it's holding on isn't it and even with no promotion. Well done Noel!

There's really something so angelic about those opening lines. Noel called it nautical nonsense. But it painted a beautiful picture in my mind. I absolutely love it. The melody and the drums are intoxicating, can't stop listening to it 100% I love it too and the nautical lyrics paint a fantastic picture!

Not really high res... but this is the best I could get: Thanks for posting. Do you (or anybody else) have the backside with Noel on it in a good resolution? I love this album I think it's Noel's best. My top 3: 1. There She Blows! 2. Council Skies 3. I'm Not Giving Up Tonight I think it's an amazing album. Trying to Find a World.. is especially wonderful. Stuff that didn't grab me immediately [Easy Now & Pretty Boy] have really grown on me. I dig the remixes, and usually I think they're junk. I love Council Skies - bravo Noel!

I didn't want to rush it after the release, but for me it's Noel's best solo album (which was very unexpected a few weeks back):
1) CS: Not a bad song in it, I like the different vibes, and to me Think of A Number is his best post-Oasis song, loving it. I only wish Trying To Find... was longer, the full version, and maybe a rockier song somewhere. 2) CY: Not too far from CS, but I don't like the Mexican and not digging that much The Right Stuff. Also, I like Lock All the Doors, but I feel like it doesn't belong, should've been a b-side (as he just did with Don't Stop). 3) WBTM: I really like the effort in production and experimentation, but I belive it was at the cost of songwriting quality, I hope someday he tries this with already writen songs. 4) HFB: Now what Sardy did here is unforgiveable, I can't come over it

I think this is my least favorite album from Noel so far. His limitations as a songwriter are exemplified with the overuse of the same words used over numerous songs (“dream”, “sky”, “sun”, etc). I wish he would form a band with another songwriter or something.

The opening track also and pretty boy, they all get better with repeat listens.

If it had AOTR, LTSALOM and ASGOG it would be an easier choice for second 3) CS - Really solid album but Im really not into Open The Door and Easy Now. And Trying to Find A World doesnt do much for me, so third place 4) WBTM - A nice effort with excelent production. Love TMWBTM, BW, KOR and ILITL but the rest falls a bit flat

I am loving every second of the album right now. Obviously Think of a number, I'm not giving up tonight are highlights, but I don't skip any song. Even finally got into Easy Now

Is so f ing annoying if Jools Holland was on last month as intended Noel would be trending on his f ing release day for how amazing he is instead of people hating his cover!

I like Easy Now and always have since I first heard it. However, I'm sorry to say that I still don't like Dead To The World the song just isn't for me at all.

1 month after the release I don't think it's a masterpiece, I don't think it's his best record, but there's something very endearing about this album that makes me go back to it and want to listen to it as a whole
My opinion on the single tunes has not changed much, I'd rank them like this:
Dead to The World Think of a Number I'm not Giving Up Tonight There She Blows
Trying To Find a World That's Been and Gone Council Skies (We're Gonna Get There In The End) Easy Now
Pretty Boy Love is A Rich Man Open The Door, See What You Find
The first two are sheer Noel brilliance, although I've got to say it took me a few listens to realise how good Think of a Number was I've had a weird relationship with Council Skies where my opinion on it was shifting on a daily basis but I'm fully on board now Pretty Boy has grown on me a bit too, the last two are just a tad too safe and not developed enough melodically to hold up, but I've gotta say I find myself still having fun when they come up and the live versions of both reinforce the feeling
It'd definitely a consequence of the time it was conceived, both for personal and external reasons, and I'd like for Noel to push it further in a direction or the other next time, but I'm really glad we got this album at this point of his career

Sorry, I’m sure this is common knowledge but I’ve missed it. I’ve heard ‘Don’t Stop…’ before; was it on Giants Demos?
