Bob Dylan has only had 5 number 1 US albums. None of his 60’s work got there. The first was Planet Waves ffs.

Depends on the deal really. I doubt Noel is losing money with garbage. They probably share crew etc so in the end he makes money. Plus he doesn’t have to pay to play other people’s songs if you know what I mean You never pay to play other people's songs live. Well of course you do. But generally its via a fee paid by the venue, not the artist. In this world, nothing is free anyway, so you can generally assume that if you do something outside your home, you have to pay for it (even inside your home). |

Just thinking of all the iconic albums prior to that from him. And begs the question, who remembers chart positions? Nobody. Do they matter? No. Above is the best example of that. |

So yeah, but Pretty Boy acoustic, apart from the soviets.. anyone? Actually I got the album including the 7" next to me twice but I'd just like to have a digital copy.
Btw, take the reverb off Noel's voice on the Easy Now version and it's better than the final product, I think. The guitar solo is a bit weird anyway. I wonder what Dave Gilmour might have done with it.

Still digesting the album, I really like it, it sounds more like a cross between CY and those dancey singles he released after WBTM?, loved The Cure vibes on Pretty Boy and Dead To The World may be his best solo song ever, but it's not all roses cos the album is a bit too midtempo-ish and Noel is setting a foot on adult alternative music territory, but he is almost 60 so it makes sense I guess.

Got my Blood Records vinyl today. This thing sounds awesome. Dead quiet. Pretty Boy almost sounds differently mixed, or maybe my setup just does it some favours.

Right, finally watching this doc 🍿 I got round to watching it. I liked it a lot. A nice insight into life in the studio with Noel. Although quite why the file sizes were so huge is beyond me. Feels quite amateurish. 13gb for a 25 minute video shot on a mobile phone -- I'm no expert but they could have easily compressed that into something smaller I think. Maybe Anais edited it herself and submitted the raw files or something. Definitely worth a watch though. Looking forward to parts 3 and 4. |
