I am absolutely BAFFLED by the single choices. Pretty Boy as the lead single?!?! I even like that song but that and Council Skies are the weakest songs on the album. . Noel said it was released as the first single because it was the first song he wrote for the album so it made sense for him to release it as the first song people hear.

Liam has quite the competition with his next effort. Just saying. Noel is out of his slump OFFICIAL.

Liam has quite the competition with his next effort. Just saying. Noel is out of his slump OFFICIAL. I'm giving this album a solid 7 outta 10 due to Dead to the World and Easy Now. It's still lightyears better than Who Built the Moon. For me none of his efforts will Trump Chasing Yesterday. That's his best solo album imo.

I enjoy all of Noels albums (why we are all here surely). But for me the one that i go back to and has grew on me the most is Who Built The Moon?
Dont undertand why it pulverises so much. At the start i wasnt sure but over the years its just grew and got more interesting as the years have past. Holy Mountain, She Taught Me How To Fly, Love Is The Law and Who Built the Moon are all true classics in my eyes with plenty of other interesting stuff going on in between.

Moon is a belter of an album, and I've resigned myself to knowing this album will not be as good (awaiting a proper listen for tomorrow). But if this is better than the first two, then good enough for me. If it's on a par with the dreadful Chasing Yesterday, we're in big trouble.

I think this’ll go down well for the casuals and hardcore fans to be honest. Oasis-y enough to keep the casuals happy and interesting enough to keep the hardcore fans happy.

I’m avoiding the leak and will listen to the album in its entirety tomorrow, just as soon as it’s landed on my doormat.
I’ll even avoid the Spotify drop as I want to listen to it as I flick through the CD booklet, taking every piece of information in…there’s nothing like owning a piece of music!
I’ve enjoyed every release so far. I agree with a lot of the comments that I’ve been reading over the months, in terms of it not being anywhere near his best work etc, but I think at times our expectations are so high. I know I’m always waiting to press play on a new song and expect the next Champagne Supernova or Don’t Look Back In Anger.
I’m just grateful that my favourite songwriter of all time is still releasing music that I appreciate and continue to play on repeat, 30 years on from when I heard the first thing he ever released.
Long may it continue and roll on tomorrow!

Some thoughts I don’t really do reviews and haven’t done one here so I don’t feel confident enough to give an in-depth review on the album, so here are a few thoughts and opinions I have:
- I think this’ll go down well for the casuals and hardcore fans to be honest. Oasis-y enough to keep the casuals happy and interesting enough to keep the hardcore fans happy.
- My god did they pick the wrong lead singles though. I know it was already released as a demo but We’re Gonna Get There In The End would have been a decent choice for a lead single, and should have been on the actual album to begin with instead of a bonus.
- I’m not giving up tonight is a great song, and is a perfect opener with the way it builds.
- Pretty Boy would have been 100x better if it was a cross between the album version and the Robert Smith remix
- Dead to the World is beautiful, and one of the best songs he’s written
- Open the Door, See What You Find is meh, it has a nice summery DBTT vibe to it I suppose. Cross between Keep The Dream Alive and A Bell Will Ring
- Trying To Find a World That’s been and Gone is great, love the build up.
- Easy Now will be good amongst the casual fans, but I do think the hardcore fans will get bored of it (A bit of dad rock)
- Council skies is a bit too repetitive to me, and I think the whole production is flat. Live version works much better though
- There She Blows is awesome, different enough but not weird enough to alienate casual listeners
- Love Is A Rich Man is a bit repetitive, just like Council Skies, but I do think it’s probably the most upbeat track on the album.
- Think of a Number is great, little bit different as a closer but I think it really works as one.
- I love the new version of Don’t Stop, especially with the organ sound that’s nicked from Joe Cockers “I Will Get By With Help From My Friends”. I really think this new version works.
- The new version of We’re Gonna Get There In The End is actually my favourite song on here, the horns elevate the song to next level, I really love it.
As a whole I really do enjoy the album, it’s just I wish the vocals weren’t so buried in the mix on every track.
Thanks for coming to my ted talk.

I thought Noel's cover of Love Will Tear Us Apart was decent...he's no Ian Curtis but it works. But then again, can you imagine Ian Curtis shouting out the chorus to Don't Look Back In Anger in front of 50,000 people in Buenos Aires ? I had the same feeling initially but after a few listens they kind of made it their own HFB version. Sharrock's 4/4 drums were distracting me the most at first but I strongly guess he deliberately approached the song differently. The way Jess looks over to Noel at around 1:45 is quite telling as well. Just like she knows how the lyrics have been fitting to Noel's private life. The general theme or meaning of Love Will Tear Us Apart is quite analogue to Dead To The World anyway, I suppose.

Records from the artists you love deserve attention and care. And even a little wait.

It's quite possibly my favorite song of all time so I was happy to hear Noel do a version. I agree with all the flaws in his version but I loved it anyway and it was a different take and not just a straight cover which was nice. I enjoyed it a lot and I hope Noel does more out there covers like this in the future.

Fantastic album .. it’s classic noel with a fresh sounding twist and staples him down as the finest songwriter of the last 30 years .. he simply hardly writes poor stuff , his output since the beginning is truly unmatched . Makes me wonder where he goes after this one, I say he’s got a final classic oasis album in the locker .

That NG bastard is 56. Just so we appreciate what's happening a bit more: what rockstar managed to handle his career that well up until hitting that age? Sting did it, Paul Weller did it, David Gilmour did it, Bowie smashed it, but a lot of songwriters are either dead physically or musically at that age.

'Think of a Number' sounds like 'While The Song Remains The Same' re-imagined by The Cure in 1989. Great track, definitely a highlight. Oooh, that sounds promising! Looking forward to tomorrow.
I'll have the album on repeat while I try to purchase Pulp tickets. A proper Britpop morning...

What's that piano melody on TOAN? Can't place it but it's lifted from something. It reminds me of Council Skies, ironically.. the "underneath the council sky I've found you" melody. Which is based on BOTMI?

Listened to the unreleased songs but yet to give the album a full start to finish listen. Why the fuck was Pretty Boy the lead single? Because it was the first song that was done for the sessions of the album.
