I just cant get past the bland lazy melodies unfortunately  Its like 90% of the melodies Noel writes these days are just the least amount of syllables he can get in possible, its hard to explain but it comes across as lazy imo, especially on top of an average production. Obviously it works when the melody is killer, like Live Forever, Slide Away and SCYHO for example. This is the reason I'll probably only re listen to "Trying to Find a World" and possibly DTTW. The rest have no replay value for me :/ I really liked Flying On The Ground and We're On Our Way Now, too I understand the feeling 100%. But it’s hard to describe yes. Noel doesn’t write like he used to. He tries to write like his heroes, 80s kinda of melody which rely more on emotion responding to the sounds of the instruments than on a more complex melody backed by the musicians. They are Plaintive and langourous. It’s not the main element anymore in Noel’s songs. At least on this record. |

Gotta say, what a relief! It actually got me worried but the unheard tunes really stand out.
I'm Not Giving Up Tonight - An interesting choice for the album opener. I really like where Noel takes his voice during the chorus and the choir give me a Joe Cocker's "With a Little Help From My Friends" feel. Definitely a stand out tune in the album
Pretty Boy - I liked the tune, it's upbeat and a good melody. I just really wish it had some real drums in it, the Robert Smith's version really showed me it could be much more, espacially with that kick ass solo
Dead To The World - Really beautiful tune, nothing else to say
Open The Door, See What You Find - Not my cup of tea. I'll probably skip that one, but it made me really worried if the album had more stuff in this direction. I like the "allllright" part though.
Trying To Find A World... - Pretty much the same version we heard before, I'm not very into it, sounds like an unfinished song. I mean, if it was really just an interlude that would be fine, but it's one out of the 10 tunes.
Easy Now - The chorus really didn't grow on me. I like the verse's melody but I feel like it was promising something bigger.
Council Skies - An adorable song. Not sure if id pick as a single, feels a bit like Rattling Rose pt 2, but I still enjoy it a lot.
There She Blows - So cool. This should've been released before, it's intoxicating with great drums, falsettos, awesome middle, killer guitar solo, excellent tune.
Love is a Rich Man - Gotta admit I found the verses very underwhelming but then the chorus kicked in and oh, what a nice surprise! Felt a bit like Girl With The X-Ray Eyes, really put this tune in another level! Also, nice guitars.
Think Of a Number - Again, a surprising way to close the album. The song really goes to unexpected place and is a different territory for Noel but somehow a famiI'm liar one. Nice one.
Can't wait to see how the tunes will grow more on me but I'm definitely excited to find out!

Quick review after 2 listens....
1. INGUT - 9/10 Best song on the album
2. PB - Wasnt overally impressed when 1st heard. Was just alright. But fits nicely here. 7/10
3. DTTW - 8/10. Lovely song and one of the strongest from singles
4. OTDSWYF - 8/10. Good song without being great.Didnt understand the hate yesterday. Noels vocals do let it down a a bit.
5 TTFAWTHBAG - 8.5/10 Loving this. Avoided it until now and pleased i did.
6. EN 8/10. Classic Noel
7. CS - 7.5/10 Grew on me after being a little underwelmed. Solid song still
8. TSB - 8.5/10 Biggest suprise and loving it.
9. LIARM - 7.5 Sounds good but not one of the best on album. 2nd listen was more impressed.
10. TOAN - 8/10. Have a feeling this could be a grower. Not your typical Noel finale song. Again 2md listen mire impressed and could get better
Overall 8.5/10.....really good solid album without there being any real classic songs (maybe INGUT will be one) but also not songs under 7/10, so can play the full album knowing each song is at least good.

My deluxe cd which I ordered from HMV is on its way but I'm not sure if I'll get it tomorrow or not as I only ordered it last night. I cancelled the blue vinyl order on Amazon and went for the HMV one instead.

Loving all the unheard tunes so far. Not sure what is my favourite, maybe Love is a Rich Man The album flows really well, no need to use the skip button in this one Let's go now with the remixes and extras... Don't stop was never a favourite for me. The new version is not either The completed version of 'We gonna get there...' is a real improvement over a demo which was already very good. I would have included it as part of the album Mind games lives up to the promise As expected, the 3 instrumentals are completely pointless. The 4 remixes are really good: feel more like alternative versions than conventional remixes The Radio 2 recordings are very good versions of 3 fantastic songs Overall, a very complete pack of extras. No complaints from my side |

I don't get the hype for I'm Not Giving Up Tonight really. The brass section is nice but the rest is pretty forgettable.
Apart from Trying to Find a World (which we already kinda new), i really liked Think of a Number. Sounds a lot like something DMA's wrote in some parts. This will definitely be on the repeat in the next weeks.
There She Blows is just meh. Same goes for Love Is a Rich Man.

Listening to Don’t Stop, it sounds like it was built around the original demo, you can still hear the guitar from it I had the impression nothing was re-recorded for the known songs, just added a bunch of other instruments |

'Think of a Number' sounds like 'While The Song Remains The Same' re-imagined by The Cure in 1989. Great track, definitely a highlight.
