Don't think I could be less hyped about Liam's new album tbh I'm sure it'll be great when it comes out though. I can't remember the last time I listened to AYW, and I loved that album when it came out. I don't think it's a bad album at all, just get bored if trying to listen to it all the way through. The Liam song I dig most atm is Doesn't Have To Be That Way. It's different.

I listened to this then immediately to Holy Mountain - and I'm surprised how much I like Holy Mountain haha. I remember disliking it after its release but it's a fun little track - not necessarily the best thing since sliced bread like some said but it's a fun track.
Black Star Dancing has a cool U2 Pop-era groove to it, but the song itself doesn't go anywhere and feels generic.

I am typically pleased when a band/artist I love try something new. However, in my opinion, WBTM is horrible (except for TMWBTM) and this isn’t much better. The melodies obviously suffer from the style and I think I just realized that his voice isn’t suited for it; sounds very ordinary and rather weak to me. This certainly isn’t the Noel I fell in love with, but he deserves to be able to release whatever makes him happy. It’s strange to think I might not buy something Noel-written for the first time in over two decades though...

I'm one of the people who basically loves anything Noel-related and also one of those people who is fine with Noel being stuck in 1996 for the next 20 years. I can live with the slow plodding stuff, even if its not what it once was, I still enjoy it. That is not to say I don't appreciate a new sound and a new direction, because I do and I'm glad he made WBTM and I like this new tune. But when listening to a song like this one or some of the stuff that was different on WBTM, I was like "good, but I'm hoping the next song that comes on is more like classic Noel." But when a classic Noel song comes on, I don't really think "well i love this but hopefully the next song that comes on is a brand new sound out of left field." New sound is great and again I enjoy it and appreciate it, but overall if I want new sound I think I'd prefer it from someone who is an expert in that field, while I want Noel to be the one who gives me Noel. I think what really is needed is Noel to mix the best of both together. He managed it to an extent on WBTM. Doesn't feel quite like he has on this song but I don't think he was aiming for it. Like, the chorus is very much more of a refrain. But it's still dead catchy imo.

Sorry, but this is not a good song. Listen to radio x for an hr and you'll hear loads of new songs better than this. Bit of a cop out with an EP too. I did not actually mind WBTM, but I'm sorry this is rubbish. You could even tell from the interviews Noel didn't give a dhit about it. He will have released this cause Liam will have a new album out soon. Oh and we will now be waiting another 1 year and 1/2 or two years for a new album.

The fact this is an EP with 3 brand new tracks makes me think that this is Noel discarding the last few decent offerings from the David Holmes sessions, and clearing the decks for the new Dave Sardy album.
I'm now thinking we might not get the second David Holmes album, at least not for a good while.

Think this is a left over from the Holmes stuff. Wonder if his record company wanted him to release something to try and sell the upcoming gigs.

This song was 100% written on the bass. I don't think this is purely stuff left over from the Holmes sessions. It may well be a bit of both, but it's not just Holmes stuff imo.

I think we're supposed to be grateful Noel has given us a slightly different version of something he gave us 18 months ago and has followed it straight up by giving us a steaming turd.

I think like Holy Mountain, it'll have more life than people think.

Nice song Weird that Noel didn't seem that enthusiastic when he introduced it on radio.

Don't understand the hate for this song? I like it, it's got the same graceful restraint that made It's a Beautiful World such a killer tune, even if it doesn't have that song's chorus's cathartic release. A nice, laid-back funky disco tune with a slick solo that is like the genuinely cool guy at the party. He doesn't show off because he doesn't need to. This didn't blow me away like Holy Mountain did, but then again, what could? Black Star Dancing isn't quite as good as Noel's best work, but it will probably go down in Gallagher history as the best non-album a-side since Whatever. It's a nice little track that would slot quite comfortably onto Noel's last album (which I always felt was a bit short). I agree with many here it's not really single material but if had just been released as a "regular" track on the last album without any of this "new single" fanfare it wouldn't be copping half this flak. It's a new Noel song to add to your collection. It's a fine piece of work - better than most of that autotuned garbage that gets released these days. Slot it into your playlist for his last album and just enjoy it whenever it rolls around.

This is so far removed from the guy who wrote supersonic my big mouth etc it's as if noel wants to forget the oasis era of his career altogether and just give us this I can't decide whether I like this or not, my opinion on first listen is it's fuckin shite Yeah, imagine not changing as a human being in 25+ years, right?

I love music in general and i used to love Noel Gallagher's music in particular but lately, as i've said several times, i think his songs aren't good enough. It isn't about being dance music or trying to be more experimental...it's just that Noel, for me, has lost his personality, charisma and his ability to create magic with his songs. I respect whoever loves his music now, but i can't agree with you

Why is it impossible to keep his name out of a Noel specific thread? And vis-a-versa honestly.

Quite possibly the most boring chorus Noel has ever written. I feel like the song could have been great if it had a catchy chorus. But it literally has no hook.
