This is so far removed from the guy who wrote supersonic my big mouth etc it's as if noel wants to forget the oasis era of his career altogether and just give us this I can't decide whether I like this or not, my opinion on first listen is it's fuckin shite

It's pretty catchy, nice to get an EP too.
Although £19.50 including delivery for an EP is a bit expensive.

No thanks Noel, I’ll take a hard pass and stick to my latest finding ‘The Dose’. Dance direction just isn’t my thing at all which is a shame because I’ve loved all 3 of his solo albums so far

I'm one of the people who basically loves anything Noel-related and also one of those people who is fine with Noel being stuck in 1996 for the next 20 years.
I can live with the slow plodding stuff, even if its not what it once was, I still enjoy it.
That is not to say I don't appreciate a new sound and a new direction, because I do and I'm glad he made WBTM and I like this new tune.
But when listening to a song like this one or some of the stuff that was different on WBTM, I was like "good, but I'm hoping the next song that comes on is more like classic Noel."
But when a classic Noel song comes on, I don't really think "well i love this but hopefully the next song that comes on is a brand new sound out of left field."
New sound is great and again I enjoy it and appreciate it, but overall if I want new sound I think I'd prefer it from someone who is an expert in that field, while I want Noel to be the one who gives me Noel.

I dig the tune. Groovy. And nice guitar solo.
I didn’t listen to the interview though. No news on an album? The Facebook post specifically mentioned album news.

Doesn't sound like it's from Holmes produced leftovers. Is there any info ? It sounds like Sardy, very close to What a Life.

This being the album #4 thread, doesn't the existence of this EP kinda prove that Noel does NOT want the next album to go into this direction? Feels more like a bit of a throwaway, the non-album single we always wanted him to do, and a way to release the last bits of his David Holmes days.

On Facebook it says it's a Christmas song? Wtf, I assume that's a typo.

I don't think the song is awful. But I don't get the wow factor I get from most Noel songs. Holy mountain had it, the first time I heard the 'get out of the doldrums' part. This is just a big one-note for me.

It's on his offcial website now. Two more songs called Rattling Rose and Sail On. What is it with Noel ripping off other people’s song titles? Bowie - Blackstar MC5 - Rambling Rose Commodores - Sail On Also... Devo- Beautiful World Led Zep - The Song Remains The Same Asia - Heat Of The Moment X

...And the shipping fees are cheeck as always. Why are two LPs more expensive than one when they put it in the exact same packaging anyway?

Don't understand the hate for this song?
I like it, it's got the same graceful restraint that made It's a Beautiful World such a killer tune, even if it doesn't have that song's chorus's cathartic release. A nice, laid-back funky disco tune with a slick solo that is like the genuinely cool guy at the party. He doesn't show off because he doesn't need to. This didn't blow me away like Holy Mountain did, but then again, what could? Black Star Dancing isn't quite as good as Noel's best work, but it will probably go down in Gallagher history as the best non-album a-side since Whatever.

Not into it... I don't think it's awful, but it doesn't sound single material to me... Nice solo though
So, the fact that it's an EP really confirms that there's no new album?

It’s okay. It’s no Holy Mountain which was barrels of fun in my opinion. Despite its shiny production, it is a bit bland I think. And unfortunately, that lends it to Kasabian comparisons - which is as big an insult as you can get if you’re being compared to those monkeys. In fairness Kasabian do this sort of thing better. Are You Looking For Action? would be a good exacmple of this. I really like Are You Looking For Some Action and I understand the comparisons after a few listens. But I really like this too. It didn't really remind me of Kasabian listening to it but listening to the refrain (which is what it is more than a chorus imo) I kind of see the links. Anyway, very happy with it. I don't actually think it would have fit on WBTM either, as some seem to be suggesting.
