If anyone has ever heard the last 45 seconds of Rostam's Gwan, I think a fully produced Dead in the Water could sound like that.

It's all a matter of taste, i rarely listen to live stuff, especially the Gallaghers. i'm a studio geek. If i had a gun is not the best example i gotta say, it's not that great in either form to me. + demos are studio versions right, just a bit raw IIHAG is one of the most overrated and over hyped song in Gallagher Bros history. Its an ok song with ok production. Nothing more. Nothing less. Glad it wasn't his debut single. Behave. It THE best NGHFB song by a mile. Production is poor, mind. But what a tune!

I'm confused... is this on the album? Every format has it as a bonus track.

clyp.it/ffyopiqgJust those snippets of Dead in the Water brought tears to my eyes. So much genuine emotion. Can't wait to hear the full track, it's going to be incredible. that second song sounds great

This small clip reminds me of If We Shadows, raw and emotional. It sounds beautiful, all 10 seconds of it. 😀

I can't wait for the album proper and I am sure Dead in the Water is beautiful but it would also be ironic if it ends up outshining the album proper. He spends years and energy on finally pushing the envelope with David Holmes and imagine if it's the track he writes in an hour and records unknowingly on a whim that gets talked about and praised more than the whole Holmes project. It would be a facepalm but also evidence of his brilliance.
That said, I hope the album proper shines over this so he pushes the envelope even more next time.

It seems to be the song everyone keeps mentioning in interviews. I think its great Noel has tried something different, however, the songs I've heard don't connect with me in the way songs like Dead in the Water do (guessing from the clip). The production of his voice is fucking stupid, nevermind Adele singing into a bucket, this sounds like it's been recorded in one. I don't see why Holmes wouldn't let him use songs he has already written then we might have got songs not completely relying on production elements. Overall, it's cool to have something slightly different in his discography. I would like a raw song based album next time, would be a nice contrast to this.

Aren't a lot of Noel's best songs the ones he wrote quickly? The story of whipping up Supersonic just one example. I remember Noel saying once the truly great songs find you, you don't find them. I think this album will be mega, but I wouldn't be surprised if the songs that live on for years to come continue to be the ones that strike out of the blue.

I wish Noel would just say "my most obscure B-side has been heard by more people than will ever read your writing, mate."

I remember music jouralism course at uni and talking for ages with this pair of later to be drug addict hipsters (one of which is on trial for rape now), about shoehazing and had a massive convo on Jesus and Mary Chain and then they seemed massively shocked i was a big Oasis fan and couldnt hide this inner sort of absolute hatred for them as if Noel or Liam had killed one of their family members. People really do seem to have a massive snobbery/hatred towards them.

It's funny. A lot of people were panicking over some of the songs sounding a bit U2 but I actually think the melody here sounds kind of U2ish.
Reminds me of "All I Want is You" or "Every Breaking Wave".
Sounds good so far. Only a week to go!

After hearing the clip I'm definitely hearing DITW as the last track of the album. I planned to hear it first but something in the melody is really special and beautiful to me. Almost cried like a 5 year old girl.

I'm confused... is this on the album? I think it's just titled a 'bonus track' because sonically it doesn't fit in with the rest of the album. Calling it a 'bonus track' is a good excuse to shoehorn it onto a full album.

So if I buy the record on vinyl, will DITW be on there?

he may act like a twat sometimes- but deep inside he's that middle kid- fighting off and still recovering from the pain of an abusive father. i defy anyone to write songs as beautiful as this- even after just hearing a few seconds of it. instant classic.

But it wouldn't really be ironic would it. I could see the point if Noel was writing classic tunes after classic tunes one every album, but most of his solo songs don't hold a candle to the best stuff he's written. While Dead In The Water may be an exception, it is just that. There's absolutely no evidence from Noel's solo career that going back to writing conventional songs would yield classic tune after classic tune. If it turns out as good as we hope it will be, then it's a one off for that kind of song.

He's no poet by any stretch of the imagination but the lyric from that clip "let the storm rage, and I’ll die on the waves, but I will not rest while love lies dead in the water" is one of his best in years.
