Yeah, it rankles a lot. I wish Noel would just say "my most obscure B-side has been heard by more people than will ever read your writing, mate." I remember music jouralism course at uni and talking for ages with this pair of later to be drug addict hipsters (one of which is on trial for rape now), about shoehazing and had a massive convo on Jesus and Mary Chain and then they seemed massively shocked i was a big Oasis fan and couldnt hide this inner sort of absolute hatred for them as if Noel or Liam had killed one of their family members. People really do seem to have a massive snobbery/hatred towards them. I commented on another site that I'll be seeing Liam soon, and someone responded "why would you give money to either of those arrogant assholes??" (actual quote). My only reply was "I'm also seeing Noel in February! " It's class prejudice more than anything, I think. They're working class guys who have the nerve not to be ashamed of it.

That makes me REALLY want a stripped back Noel album. Those lyrics are GREAT. The sound of his voice is GREAT. The melody is GREAT.

People saying stuff like 'Noel can do this in his sleep' are full of it cause YES Noel can write acoustic song after acoustic song, ad infinitum, BUT it's not often they go the extra mile to becoming something special. Dead In The Water definitely sounds like one of these special ones.

He's no poet by any stretch of the imagination but the lyric from that clip " let the storm rage, and I’ll die on the waves, but I will not rest while love lies dead in the water" is one of his best in years. Define poet. He's a poet. Promise you.

Artists and musicians can do what they like creatively, as Noel has chosen to take a different direction with this album from what we've heard so far. And fair play to him for broadening his horizons after so long.
But man, even from this tiny snippet I'd have killed for an album full of classic acoustic Noel.
Capo 3rd fret, C, G, Em, and D are the chords so far for anyone interested.

So now we've officially got It's a Beautiful World and Dead in the Water?
I really want to listen but I think i'm going to wait, just a bit longer. Otherwise I won't have enough to surprise me when the album comes out. It's hard but I'll wait a little longer.

For me, this song was so beautiful and so powerful that it almost made me cry! Does anyone think that it'll stick out like a sore thumb on the album though given it's a bonus track and I guess not to be considered as part of the main album? But it also makes me wonder why we can't just get an album of Noel + an acoustic guitar! No Mike Rowe as well btw

Fuck me... just sat and listened to the snippet from the radio broadcast and it brought back so many feelings from around the time Oasis had broken up. Listening to this track in all its bare production is unbelieveably passionate. I can honestly say, I didn’t expect a song THIS good again after Oasis ended. Don’t get me wrong, there have been a few HFB tracks (think Alone on the Rope, GHUA) that made me feel that deep Noel connection, but nothing as strong as this, and I literally burst into tears. It made me realize how much I still feel he’s my favorite songwriter of all time. Granted, I don’t LOVE everything he does, but what he’s done is some of my favorite music anyone has ever done. That final bit about how social media, and about how one person in particular, has enabled personal attacks on people that are absolutely inhumane, and for that reason, there would never be a reunion, just made me so sad. Noel really is a deep deep intellectual, and interviews, and songs like this really bring out that magic he used to show me.

I think I need to settle down and wipe my vagina, good god it’s a belter. 10 bux says it’s gonna be a live favorite in the level of Don’t Look Back In Anger if this song is given a real chance. What was he thinking not recording this as a single?

You people keep misspelling Alone on the Rope and it's triggering me. Yes, you are absolutely correct... though, I think Dead In The Water will take over that spot come next week.

Once the album get released and casual fans hear it. Fuck sake, people on here just can't wait to pounce on anything. Why do you think a song that is over five minutes long and is just Noel's voice accompanied by an acoustic guitar would be a favourite amongst casual fans? From my experience, casual fans want big choruses and electric guitar parts. Dunno man, Wonderwall and Don’t Look Back In Anger have been played on just acoustic guitar and vocals for 20 years and casual fans still lose their fucking shit over them, what makes this song any different?

Seriously it is. You can tell he really enjoys this song. I think he’s extremely proud of it and I certainly don’t think he’d casually shoehorn a project this big with a poorly recorded live track, if he wasn’t.

I know, right. Nearly as good as Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands. Nah but this is Noel's best since EOTR. Same goes with the radio sample of TMWBTM(?).

He probably means the 2000s Noel sound. People loved If I Had A Gun, for instance.
