Every time STC comes up in this forum I feel like an alien. I ADORE that song. It's everything I wanted it to be. My only regret is that it wasn't released by Oasis. Agree 100% mate.

i just wonder how well Dead in the Water will sit on an album full of 'experimental' songs. Will it fit - even as a 'bonus' track? Or ruin whatever flow there may be?

It wont fit, how could it? The record is very produced and you drop an acoustic + voice behind it. really dumb.

it's a Noel acoustic recorded on the fly during the CY tour at a radio studio in Dublin i believe. it's been added as the last track to WBTM as a bonus song.

Someone tell me what is Dead in the Water. It's a song he wrote a long time ago,...and just play it once in Ireland, the same day he made the acoustic versión of The Dying Of The Light (you can find it on Youtube). The song is very personal, and he didn't know that someone's recorded it..that day. Now while he was planning WBTM just appear and he decided to publish as the only b-side of this period. He said in Radio Virgin, that is too personal...that's the reason why he decided to play it live in the next tour.

Gets a bit tiresome when I click on a thread and see a post from you and can tell it's going to be bitter before I even read it Also, for your benefit: joke noun 1. a thing that someone says to cause amusement or laughter, especially a story with a funny punchline.

I've just heard the interview and, for me, Dead In The Water could be the same underrated song as for example was The Masterplan or other songs he wrote and they were amazing.
I'm not very excited about WBTM, honestly, but I've got the feeling that this song could be the one which gives me goosebumps like I heard Don't Stop... soundcheck for the first time, or the IIHAG soundcheck, or DOTL demo and, if that's happen, for me, the entirely album worths it.
Come on, Noel, give me your best.

I was very curious about this one, I reckon it might be more Noel's old school kinda song, very different from the album. The only problem is when someone hypes a song like this, it kills the element of surprise and might divide people around here.

New album promotion is completely dead in the water. Noel Gallagher doesn’t need promotion. The songs sell themselves . When’s Liam episode of The great songwriters on?

The same time as Noel’s greatest front men episode Come on now!! So uneccessary...liam isn’t claiming to be the greatest song writer

Well i had zero expectation about this song, and it seems dumb to place it on a very "out there" record. We'll see, but if it is that good, then i would be a shame not to have a proper studio recording. Noel hyped it too much already though. Eh? It's a bonus track. It's technically not on the record. It's just a little extra for people who pay their subscriptions to streaming services or for people who pay for the vinyls/deluxe versions (as I'm sure you do). Noel only said that he's really proud of it because of how it was recorded. It's just one take - him and an acoustic guitar. That's what he believes makes it special.

Not to the extent that is deserved, probably, but: - South America - Oasis and NG (and LG) are still considered the very biggest around - America - A hardcore fanbase may be, but I bet most American music listeners of a certain age can name and would know three-five Oasis songs, more than can be said for most British bands. - Europe - Huge fan base across Italy and Spain, especially.

Did Sad Song (an acoustic ballad put between two rock anthems) ruin the flow of DM? Sad song and the rest of DM have been recorded in the same fashion, live in studio, raw, with very few overdubs and they belong to the same sessions. That track is an acoustic recorded on a radio show with completely different equipements, with different engineers, no producer, no overdubs. Do you seriously believe it's gonna fit with the rest of the super duper produced record, where each sound has been evaluated, removed or added and manipulated to death ? It would be like putting Purple Parallelogram on Morning Glory. Bonus tracks are bonus tracks. If it fitted on the record, they would not have mentionned the fact that it's a live take. I hope i'm wrong though.

The record is finished by the time Dead In The Water plays, so I can't possibly see how it will ruin any flow. The flow will be over...
