Erm, given that Liam will sell nowhere near as many albums as Noel's first album, or his second I expect, or tickets as Noel's previous tours, what does that mean? Trouble with using sales as your barometer...and no, I don't think better sales mean Noel's albums were far better than As you were. They are meaningless. It's my opinion Noel's albums are better, but others here disagree, fair enough. Perhaps, if people don't like an album it doesn't mean they're a fanboy, they just don't like that album. The irony iof your last two sentences is telling. Liam’s AYW album imo isn’t anywhere near Noel’s first two albums, and from what I’ve heard so far from WBTM, Liam’s albums won’t be near that either. Liam sold his album the same way Noel is selling his. Album purchases attached to ticket purchases, etc. etc. It's the modern marketplace, and all artists are playing within the new rules. If neither sales nor an aggregation of professional critic scores are an indicator of quality, then perhaps you can share what your parameters are? You're rejecting commercial AND critical success, so how do you measure quality? My own ears. Don’t need anything else. If you're unwilling to take either popular or professional consensus, then surely you can't expect your own personal opinion to be a valid parameter. We either agree that art appreciation is subjective across the board, or we agree there are acceptable parameters by which to measure quality. You can't have it both ways. |

I don't see any sense to keep this thread open if people continue Liam vs Noel day in, day out, over and over. We could have had a "healthy" debate, but sadly this thread ends up with "Liam's fan boys are this", "Noels fan boys that" just like many other threads on this board. Let's face it. It's laughable to hear Noel slagging off anything to do with Liam's record or voice because a) AYW is the best Gallagher release in over a decade, b) Liam is sounding better than he has since 2002. The songwriter thing is irrelevant at this stage because I can listen to I've All I Need, a song Liam wrote completely, with tears in my eyes cause it's so joyous and the best feeling since Oasis. Noel hasn't got a leg to stand on, especially when his current material is IMO not what I or most others want. Then you've got the likes of Paper Crown and For What It's Worth, that, despite being written by other songwriters, retain that Oasis feel and are much better songs than what Noel has delivered so far, with there being next to no chance of anything better we've yet to hear from WBTM. Liam keeps Oasis alive. Noel takes his ego to the next level. I love the guy but Noel really needs his tree shaking. As for the 'personal' stuff, it's still all banter to Liam and not meant. Twitter is NOT the best place for Liam because you don't the pure sarcasm through hearing and seeing him say those things. He was trying to be funny with 'shit Meg' and all that. Maybe he never got on with Sara, who knows? He bloody won't now, that's for sure.......  ah well. |

That's it. You can blame me (again) for closing this thread.
We've let this thread open with hope that people will move on and having a healthy debate, but in fact We've waited for too long.
With so much hate and anger towards Liam and Noel and towards to fellow members, a "healthy" debat can't be done.
Everybody can post their opinions and thoughts on Liam's album, Noel's new songs/new album in Liam board and Noel board.
And for some members, please learn to respect your fellow members. Cheers.
