Well I did read on here Holy Mountain was better than Supersonic... Abso-fucking-lutely! That will be me. Oh come off it mate haha I'm as excited as anyone for Noel's new album, but just as with As You Were, can people not go overboard?

Not really, and not because I am so in love with HM (even though I do rate it the best single since AATW), but because I never rated Supersonic that highly in the first place.

Man, I must be so out of step with this forum. I can't imagine giving this any less than an eight. I mean...listen to it!

I do really like it, and Fort Knox, just because it's so different to what Noel has done before and I'm glad we're getting something different.

It is great, but I do think - a bit like HM - it's missing 'something' in the final third of the song. Noel's best tunes have that 'umph' going into the chorus/middle eight, and I just think both these tunes are missing that umph/change that would take them to a different level. I'm very hopeful that the rest of the album will be different, but I just have a nagging doubt that Holmes may have taken a bit too much away from Noel. As I said though, confident that doubt will have been proved wrong come Nov 24, though.

I just prefer my songs to be a roller coaster ride and Noel was top notch at making those types of songs. Yes the verse-bridge-chorus-verse-bridge-chorus-solo-middle8-chorus method is old and predictable, but when all of those pieces are good and you have an uplifting chorus, its amazing. Its only when the song is dull when that method gets old fast.

Yep I just hope that's not what Holmes took away From the tiny bit of 'It's A Beautiful World' that we have heard, though, that does sound like a song that has that change in tempo in it. The thing I've found with both HM and FK is that when I'm getting into the final minute, I would rather go back to the start and listen to the first two thirds of the song than carry on and complete it... If you get me.

Certain knuckle dragging luddites hate Fort Knox. FACT. Certain opinionated self-centred pompous imbeciles like Fort Knox too. FACT. Certain people who are open to different types of music and happy NG is going in a different direction like FK too. FACT. Just as the same people like that Liam has come back with a great solo album and is enjoying mega success. FACT.

Page 9 so who cares what my opinion is? You've read enough already.
Yeah, it's pretty good. Get rid of the alarm and it's 8/10. As it is - 7.
Much better than the sludge that is Holy Mountain.

I think I've settled on a 7.50/10 rating, voted 8 in the poll as I'm sure Noel will appreciate that.
The rhythm section of the track is fantastic (dat bass etc etc) and it's a great, fresh idea from Noel, however I do agree with a couple of the comments in this thread about it being a bit too long and in need of a solo of some sorts.
Not as good as FITB but still an exciting opener. Amazed at some of the very critical reviews.......each to their own I suppose.

The vocal parts from the different parts of the song all play together but the instruments remain the same which is why it’s subtle. I really like it because it’s a different style and it works.

Looking at the graph, there's clearly no definitive consensus aroubd Fort Knox.
To me, I much prefer Holy Mountain, but keeping in mind that Fort Knox is an instrumental it does what it needs to do - introduces the album that follows.

They should have had the alarm fade out after a minute or so. Instead it just goes on and ruins the whole song. It should probably be a six or seven, but it's honestly unlistenable for me. 3/10. Such a shame.

I'm really enjoying Fort Knox and I'm glad Noel is stepping outside his comfort zone to try something different.
If anything, I think the bland "keep on holding on" lyrics hold it back a bit - I'd prefer something a bit more surreal or abstract. In fact I'd like to hear a pure instrumental version of the song at some stage (perhaps even a trance style remix).
But the album is shaping up well so far. My synesthesia is fading as I get older but Holy Mountain is one of the most purple tracks I'v ever seen.

It'll be fun when I try to combine them into one double album in a few months time like I did with the other Noel and Liam releases. I've got the "black" and the "white" double albums sitting there so I suppose this will have to be the "grey" album.

Mind sharing how you mixed those albums and the track list order? I’ve wanted to do that but am too lazy would love to listen through it that way
As for Fort Knox, honestly I give it a 3 The alarm is probably the most hated sound to humans why it goes on for so long is beyond me. It could’ve been a 6 but it’s hard on my ears.
