I don’t know where this belief started on the forum that MOON and Holy Mountain bombed. Moon is already one of the biggest sellers of the year. Noel’s 3rd solo #1. Holy Mountain is his 2nd biggest hit single. The reviews have almost all been glowing. So where is this struggle and fall from grace people keep yappin it up about? Is this just old Beady Eye fans looking for payback? Because then you are way off the mark. Even Liam quit that band. If there was a few people who were throughly fucked off and disgruntled by how some people treated the Beady Eye section as a dumping ground (couple of them have liked your post unsurprisingly) it would hardly be a surprise. They can dish it out of course... I hear you on that point but Noel's album isn't bombing. Its doing the same as Chasing Yesterday give or take. An album like "BE" flat out bombed. If Noel's album did that chart and tour performance then fine, have at it. Many of these anti-MOON, anti-Mountain posts about it "struggling" are unfounded. Just seems like sour grapes from a different year, band, album cycle.

To imply that people who aren't as impressed are noobs or bots is pathetic ( also happening in the AYW Vs WBTM thread) People like batfink30 and matt worked really hard for this reaction from people over a number of years, they should enjoy it.

None of that is factual. Its opinion that is ill informed. If you don't like MOON that is one thing. To say it bombed is another.

Its always hard to compare eras and years. Its mind blowing to me how different the musical world is since 2011. Spotify has been a complete game changer over the last 2-3 years. Its shocking how low sales figures are for week 1 sales in the USA and UK. I'm even struggling to rationalize it all. This is not the system I grew up with and I feel slightly out of touch. Which I'm guessing most Oasis fans would be in 2017 with the fast paced, rent music ideology of the last 2 years. Like Liam and Noel might actually end up selling more physical copies of albums than anyone else in England in 2017 but still fall massively short of artists that max out on iTunes and Spotify.

I think he's saying that people are making excuses for Noel selling badly, which is weird because Noel didn't sell badly at all and no-one is making excuses for it because it didn't happen. Again, I'm reading some absolute shite from someone with less than 100 posts. Where are these posters coming from?! Russian bots? I guess they probably are because most of them can't speak English properly. No SJW bots

People always want to compare though and it's the thing you choose to compare it with that decides whether it is a success or failure. Liam encouraged comparisons with Oasis for BE and they failed big time. On the contrary Noel discouraged comparison with Oasis but was naturally compared to BE and seen as a massive success. Then Liam solo was compared with BE and has smashed it.
Now Noel is being compared to Liam solo and seen to be doing badly as a result. Even though,as has been pointed out, he is doing no worse than his last album. Of course people will shift goalposts by selecting there own comparison to suit the result they want. Just like people used to defend BE performance by saying they were doing ok compared to other indie rock bands in the charts.

My favorite so far has been "not fair comparing a third album and a debut!" The mental gymnastics are Olympics-worthy.

The scramble to show facts and figures for Noel is highly amusing.
The case for the sales being similar to CY is perhaps justified. However i think saying Beady Eye's BE sales were a "bomb" for what it was (indie band, no promotion, no marketing) is harsh. Yes by Liam standards a flop, by Indie status good.
And to be honest, if you take out the fact Noel's had the massive benefit of all the Liam vs Noel stuff and most importantly his name on the cover (when Beady Eye didnt) then are these sales THAT much better?
For example if BE comes out just after CY and there's been this whole saga with the two of them and its called 'Liam Gallagher - BE" you'd be talking these figures too surely?

I read one poster say Liam should be happy selling out the 100 club playing Oasis songs. Good prediction ass whipe.

There is a natural hype built into debut and a fresh beginning. Let’s see what album 3 does when we get there. Liam still has a long way to go. Loooooong way to go. He only just a week ago let down thousands of USA fans. Broke a lot of hearts. Sure he was sick but it doesn’t play into his previous USA perception is. Fair or unfair. He authored it one way or another.

This made me laugh out loud hard. They were an indie band in name only. At the end of the day, Beady Eye had a massive machine behind them. Same as solo Noel. They share management for awhile. Liam and company got all the same promotional opportunities as Oasis and Noel. Liam even went around telling various press outlets Beady Eye were going to bigger and better than Oasis, better than Definitely Maybe. Did them NO favors. The difference was two things. The name Beady Eye covering up the Liam brand and more importantly the music wasn't up to par. DGSS did not hold up well. Sounded dated at the time. LAG went from praising it to throwing Lillywhite under the bus. Totally not fair. He can only work with what the band supplied. Sitek did a much better job with BE but again, it was very very uneven and the tunes were lacking. It came out to no buzz or chart success, under performing tours and Liam fucking quit man. He flat out walked out on them and caught them all off guard.

I'm only stating facts for Beady Eye. The same facts Liam referenced earlier this summer when doing in-depth interviews about Beady Eye's demise and the launch of his solo career in June. If you don't wanna listen to me, listen to him. Noels tour is a ways off. Lets see what happens. As of now, he's got a #1 album, a single in the Top 100 for 9+ weeks now and excellent reviews. I fail to see the downward spiral. You guys can whitewash history all you want. The past is the past.

What are you even doing in this Noel thread if all you are going to do is state lies and misconceptions. Looking to start trouble is all.

It can be difficult to avoid comparing Noel and Liam in 2017 to the dizzying achievements of Oasis 1994-1997. They are not struggling tho

It is really difficult to compare, if you go by 2017 sales Liam is already in the top 10 sellers of the year whereas Noel's debut was number 14 of 2011. Imo a good 40-50k of Noel and Liam's fans would pre-order their album before even hearing anything off of them due to the hardcore Oasis fan element, the key to their success is how many they sell from day 2 onwards.

The bitter backslash it suddenly got a few months after release was totally unjustified imo That said, I cannot see how distorting Noel album and tickets sales in obvious ways an Internet search can uncover, making catastrophic predictions with little or no evidence, or harshly insulting Noel with any excuse is going to help And before anyone points it out, it is also undeniable that Liam seems to be selling better this time around than Noel. That only means both are doing very well, which should be good news
