This is absolutely great. His 10th #1 album and a top30 single. Not bad for a song that "bombed".
I don't see any battle. This is Noel's third solo album which went to #1 and Liam's first. Noel's first album sold more and his second and now third are also doing well. It doesn't matter, but if some want to play it like this, there we go. Just stating the facts. Bit of a shame that some people are apparently a bit too childish to handle it.
I'm very pleased for both. Love both albums.

It's incredible that both Gallaghers still are two of the biggest rock n roll acts in the country

10 number one albums in a row! What a man! Is that an actual record in the UK? I know Led Zeppelin has a lot of NÂş1 albums too

Definitely Maybe - #55 Morning Glory - #4 Be Here Now - #1 Giants - #16 Heathen Chemistry - #32 (They didn't even play here on the HC tour) Don't Believe the Truth - #11 Dig Out Your Soul - #11

Fuckin hell, 78k is great! Especially for a third solo album. Great critical acclaim and great sales, Noel has every reason to be proud. I don't think the day will come when the Gallaghers aren't huge in the UK.

Miss out? They were basically Oasis minus Noel for Beady Eye. I missed nothing. When they finally in desperation played Oasis songs it came off like a cover band of Oasis except these guys were in Oasis. Glory was always gonna be out of reach for them. You can’t rip out half the heart of Oasis and think a band like that can soldier on under the same banner. You're all assuming they could make a great record without Noel. That. Did. Not. Happen. It’s was their Achilles heel. They didnt make a great record WITH noel either for 12 years. My point is at the gigs people want oasis songs. They were there for Liam in Beady Eye and the places erupted when be played Oasis songs. Its exactly the same now and its exactly the same for noel. Noel had the benefit of playing his older material first and jumped on arenas. Now liam is doing it he has huge outdoor gigs. Yeah I know. I made that Noel point earlier in the thread. You gotta be kidding yourself. Who wanted Oasis to carry on with that banner after Noel left. You gotta be shitting me. That is not Oasis. That is not the Oasis I grew up listening to in the 90s. It wouldn’t feel authentic or right despite playing Oasis songs that Noel wrote. That’s a bad look for everyone.

It would be like The Beatles continuing in 1971 without Paul McCartney.

Im not saying i wanted it as Oasis. But Liam touring with the remaining members and maybe bonehead would have been no different to what hes doing now.

Im not saying i wanted it as Oasis. But Liam touring with the remaining members and maybe bonehead would have been no different to what hes doing now. Couldn’t disagree more. This project is under his own name. That means more to people than the Beady Eye moniker. People can get behind the idea of LIAM GALLAGHER the solo artist. People had a hard time getting behind the idea of Beady Eye basically being Oasis without Noel. A band without a legendary songwriter. Tough task. Stacked odds. The other factor is the songs and music is better this time around for Liam. Bringing in outside songwriters for help was the smart and right thing to do. I posted years ago I wanted Liam to do this back in 2009. Like Robbie Williams. Huge star, brand and frontman. I don’t fully expect him to always to be able to craft good tunes but I certainly want him to sing them. Warner Brothers stepped up, got Liam the potential tools for success and the outcome was rewarding. That wasn’t gonna happen with LAG no matter how hard they tried under the Oasis banner or Beady Eye.

So just to confirm - 1.As You Were 2.Who Built The Moon Shouldnt you compare it first album vs first album? Third album vs third album? Shouldn’t we also wait to see the numbers years from now? Like the Holy Mountain lesson. People kept saying it bombed and here it is, 2 months later in the low 30s. Noel’s 2nd biggest solo hit.
