So much defensiveness and living in the past going on here.

I bought Noel's record on vinyl, CD and the 12" single. I don't feel any hate. Love+Peace. Ringo. Who said I’m referencing you? The ego on you! Mine is bigger than Liam's! And I just want to say that Liam's album is better than Noel's and people seem to agree. And I'd like to thank my mum. Thanks for your attention.

I was hoping now that both have number 1 albums people could be happy and stop comparing them. Nope. The hate runs deep. Do records sales equal if something is good or bad? Those aren’t exclusive to one another. People were jumping for joy it seemed that Holy Mountain bombed. That ended up being premature. Sometimes it’s the long game too people. No they don't. But I remember those same arguments being made for the band with the silly name years ago. There has been a considerable amount of goal post moving in this thread so that expectations meet outcome.

So much defensiveness and living in the past going on here. Beady eye was a mistake. Liam solo carreer so far it has had it's trouble, but has been a steady ride. Noel's solo carreer has been great, but with the sudden rise of his brother and his attitude toward fans he's starting to lose momentum, and that's natural you can't always be on top of the world, it has been almost unnatural how Noel has had 10 #1 albums with Oasis and HFB.

Noel will be fine. WBTM will have a long tail once people get used to the sound he was going for. Even Pet Sounds was initially unappreciated by people who expected classic Beach Boys and didn't know what to make of it. I'm just enjoying Liam coming out flying and outselling him, given how much Noel made fun of Beady Eye.

WBTM has a couple of months of sales to catch up on AYW. It'll be interesting to see how both of these albums are doing this time next year. That will be a better indication.

The only thing left to the fans of a middle aged songwriter who just scored his 10th consecutive number 1 studio album out of 10 and a top 40 single in 2017, yes

I said if even the album commonly regarded as one of the two greatest of all time struggled initially, WBTM can be forgiven for not automatically connecting. My comparison tacitly acknowledged Pet Sounds' superiority.

I was hoping now that both have number 1 albums people could be happy and stop comparing them. And they both achieved what we can assume they set out to: Liam knows there is still demand for him - hell yeah! - and Noel gets critical acclaim.

I was hoping now that both have number 1 albums people could be happy and stop comparing them. Nah, zero chance. As I've said in another thread, some people love fighting more than listening to the actual music.

Still a great achievement for Noel, regardless of Liam's album. With the way record sales have gone, getting within about 10k of Chasing Yesterday is what I expected.

Well youd miss out, but crowds the size of finsbury park will have the time of their lives seeing him perform Oasis songs and i doubt Noel not coming on for The Masterplan and Dont Look Back In Anger (as good as that would be) will dampen their spirits. Miss out? They were basically Oasis minus Noel for Beady Eye. I missed nothing. When they finally in desperation played Oasis songs it came off like a cover band of Oasis except these guys were in Oasis. Glory was always gonna be out of reach for them. You can’t rip out half the heart of Oasis and think a band like that can soldier on under the same banner. You're all assuming they could make a great record without Noel. That. Did. Not. Happen. It’s was their Achilles heel. They didnt make a great record WITH noel either for 12 years. My point is at the gigs people want oasis songs. They were there for Liam in Beady Eye and the places erupted when be played Oasis songs. Its exactly the same now and its exactly the same for noel. Noel had the benefit of playing his older material first and jumped on arenas. Now liam is doing it he has huge outdoor gigs.

Great times for Noel. Extends his #1 albums streak on only 2 months worth of sales with what's basically a standard inflation drop in sales (which essentially means that his audience has stayed steady/same). Did this without any real meat and potatoes tracks, and still got a #31 re-chart from his first single, two months after its release. I don't know how that isn't successful. But someone will find a way, I'm sure.

Noel and Liam will always have around 50 k of pre orders on albums first week nearly everything they release will be number one .Liam has got one hell of a job coming up with something to match As you were as for Noel who knows where he will go next musically. As for comparing the two now there sound is as far away from each other’s as it could possibly be two completely different albums.
