Weakest song on Be Here Now but still pretty good, the verses are good but I'm not too big on the chorus.

Easily 1/5.
Worst song on Be Here Now and of that era (excluding the covers), Noel's worst vocals and the pinched lyrics from Tony bloody Blair doesn't help in what I consider some of Noel's worst lyrics of all time

The first 40 seconds are great. The next 3 hours (well that's what it feels like) is horrible.

3/5. It's actually a good song! It's the production that's appalling. Needs a different drummer too.

I like it. Love the intro and the chord progression. Shame about the chorus though, it's such a letdown.

4/5
"But I'll have my way In my own time I'll have my say My star will shine
Cos you see me I've got my magic pie Think of me, yeah that was me I was that passer by I've been and now I've gone" ___
I really like it in the context of the album because it's one of the few tracks on there that combine the highs and the lows. At points it feels joyous and defiant (maybe bordering ignorant) of everything else in the world, and then a few seconds later it brings you back down to earth like a sudden realisation of your place in the world. Then the back and forth between the highs and lows in the verses and the chorus throughout the 7 minutes keeps it interesting throughout imo.

2/5 There's probably a good song buried in there somewhere but I can't get past the Tony Blair speech which supernovadragon has already mentioned, the song is too long for what it is (yes I am aware it is on 'Be Here Now' ) and the outro/ending is pointless.

Didn't really rate it back in 1997, but taken as part of the whole, it really works for me now. Maybe older me is more mellow, or maybe I like how it now feels like a precursor to Noel's post-2000 output. Less focus on the anthemic chorus, more effort on building a groove on which to build the song, the signs are starting to appear there. 4/5.

Worst song on BHN, I don't know if I hate it or if I'm indifferent, it's a song done in the wrong way, the song doesn't know if it's an acoustic ballad, a rocker or an epic song.
Also it was supposed to be the DLBIA of BHN, but failed completely, it didn't help that at the time Noel declared it to be one of his best songs ever.
1/5

Godlike Fantastic Alright MEH Shite
-----
Had to go have a listen to remind myself. It's not as terrible as most people say it is really. Personally, I can take it or leave it. It wasn't necessary on an already bloated album.

Magic Pie is less Robert Plant's quote and more a lesser known one from John Paul Jones in 'Hammer of the Gods'- "Come on people bring us all your lovely money!" out of a window watching the hordes arriving for another stadium gig, which apparently deeply offended Robert Plant

Its a pretty good instrumental with a shit, overblown, full of itself song crammed in the middle. Ironic how noel has to tell it to shut up at the end.
