I hope they announce the album and drop the single straight away. It has to be instantly available everywhere: Youtube, Spotify, iTunes, radio, etc. Announcing the album on Monday and then saying "the first single is coming on Friday/next week" makes zero sense in 2017. Just drop it. Although that would definitely be an improvement on last time. "Hi, I've got an album out in 5 months. Here is it's leadsingle, which you can buy in a month"

Also mentioned here: live4ever.proboards.com/thread/80826/french-rolling-stone#ixzz3RZ0J5cHNAlso in the StageLeft Podcast interview with Mike Rowe he mentioned that they recorded a new Noel song at the RTE 2FM, studio in Dublin when they were doing a radio session (Interview and TDOTL) so presumably Dead In The Water will be Noel acoustic with keys by Mike Rowe like that version of TDOTL?

It wouldn't surprise me if we get some of the "traditional Noel" tracks that weren't specifically written for the album as b-sides in demo/acoustic form.

You can tell Noel is taking this seriously- You don't make a 'concept' album with instrumentals by accident. Chasing Yesterday was just a collection of songs which he had built up over time. You can tell he never wanted to make that record just by listening to the music, whereas this new album (Just by looking at the tracklisting) looks like he's actually trying to make something that's gonna stick around for a while. erm, not sure how you can draw that conclusion like CY was and is a good album. The songs maybe don't have the longevity but the stuff he wrote more recently for that record (Ballad of the Mighty I, Heat of the Moment, Right Stuff, Girl With X-Ray Eyes, While The Song Remains The Same) were all a step towards where he seems to be heading with his third album. If you listen to chasing yesterday as a whole you can hear how he hasn’t put as much effort into it compared to any oasis album or NGHFB1. It’s that simple! The production in some places is lazy and there was no real effort to make it sound any different to a Drums-Bass-Guitar-and a couple of synths kind of album. I’m not saying it’s not a good record but just by looking at no.3’s tracklisting I can tell the work ethic has improved.

Effort or otherwise CY is my favourite Gallagher release since SOTSOG so I’m not sure ‘effort’ = quality!

Hi All
I've used this board for years to find out all the Oasis / NG / LG etc rumours and leaks first, but never felt the urge to post.
But after a pretty hectic week, to come home on a Friday and find all the details about NG's upcoming album was a joy and a pleasure to read.
Massive thanks to those who did all the detective work for Who Built The Moon; I'm now extremely excited for NG's latest offering. Really impressed with the album cover and the few pics we've seen.
We have lift off!

Wow, I totally missed this in 2015. He actually said that Dead In The Water was his best song haha? Classic Noel. So amazing that he'll release it as a bonus feature, and didnt event bother to record it. Still looking forward to anyway. Come in single, come on November!!

The cover is so interesting in itself. It looks like its a "light" and almost epic and different album. I get the feeling this will not be like any other NG collection of songs. Actually, it'll probably be dad rock ;-)

When all is said and done, Noel's album may very well not be my favourite of this year when I eventually listen to it, but the excitement levels I have for it are unbeatable.
No act comes closer to firing off my imagination thus ending up like a fanboy, but the idea of the greatest songwriter of his generation, and my favourite melodist ever, creating something a bit more ambitious makes it quite pragmatic to get excited for this one.
Realistically, as hardcore Oasis fans, there's always going to be moments where you think 'yeah, could have really done with Liam's voice on this one' as has been the case with his last couple of albums, but you'd hope that varied instrumentation, sophisticated production and varying song structure will mitigate that loss.
At the end of the album, I want to think 'why didn't Oasis make this album?'. That would be the best compliment to give to it, considering the unbelievable high expectations we had for every Oasis release. Bittersweet in a sense, because while we were mostly guaranteed great vocals from Liam, the songs were not there.
Would a genuinely excellent Noel album whet people's appetite for an Oasis reunion? As long as he was given full creative control (i.e. he writes the entire album just like days of old, accepting nothing less than this arrangement) with an excellent producer at the helm, and allowing Liam to sing for most of it, it would be an appealing prospect. If, on the other hand, it reverted to post 2000 arrangement with a dud amateur producing, containing a track list of half Noel songs and a shite half from the others, with Noel also singing half the album (sorry, far too many Noel) then a reunion is completely out of the question personally.

Love the title, so much better than I've expected. Not buzzing for the cover though - want something more abstract/creative. Anyway, it doesn't matter as long as the music is good.

I'm trying to curb my expectations but it's pretty hard. It's by far the most excited I've been for an Oasis-related release since SOTSOG, the main reason being David Holmes. He's not only a great producer, but a guy of excellent taste, and he strikes me as a person with integrity and who wouldn't be afraid to tell Noel he can do better if required. Just the kind of guy Noel needed. Do I expect another Definitely Maybe? That would be insane, but this could turn out to be his best solo album and that's enough to get really excited.

By the way, does anyone think this album could have a (loose, perhaps) space theme? Noel talked about the album having "a concept that would blow your mind" in an interview, and he seems to like that kind of thing (remember The Right Stuff?). Then there's the song titles and the cover...

Seems like it will have a chalky feel like viva la vida or dig out your soul, with a bunch of different and cluttered instruments

Seems like it will have a chalky feel like viva la vida or dig out your soul, with a bunch of different and cluttered instruments If it is anything like a mix between Viva La Vida and DOYS, then I'll love it. I find it extremely hard not to be too enthusiastic and excited about it. I'm afraid it won't live up to the hype (like CY didn't, for me at least), but I can't wait. Hope we'll get some proper news soon.

I agree, David Holmes is what gives me confidence to allow myself to get my hopes up. They seem to bounce off each other well, and I wonder if he gave Noel the confidence to stand up to his management a bit more regarding how commercial he needs to be. From comments Noel's made down the years it sounds like Ignition/Marcus Russell have always been lurking in the shadows Littlefinger stylee having a quiet word in Noel's ear whenever he tried to progress a bit. Or the songs are just that good his management let him do what he wants. We will see.

I imagine we'll hear the single Monday, I can't really imagine all these interviews lined up and not dropping it, but then you never know with Noel.
Given how Noel talks about albums we may know no more after the interviews than we do now, he doesn't tend to give much away except some vague meaningless combinations of adjectives.
I just hope there's one really bombastic track in the vein of fucking in the bushes, knowing Noel is capable of that and has only done it once always seems a shame. Though I'm not sure I get the vibes it's that kind of album.

The willpower necessary for this is unimaginable, but I've quit heroin, so... That will be extremely difficult to do. Two full months before the album comes out. That single will be everywhere that relates to Oasis or the Gallaghers.
