I liked it then and I still do. They were popular at that time. 2 number one singles. Beatiful gigs at manchester statium. Sold out gig at madison square garden. Better album then Dig out your soul or heathen chemistry in my opinion. Those were good times. Sold out MSG with DOYS as well. Over the years I've seen so many smaller indie acts sell out the Garden. It does my head in. I use to use it as a big bench mark measuring stick but it's slightly lost its luster over the last 15 years. I'm not sure how so many acts are selling it out constantly. Phish are currently on a 13 nigh sell out run. Phish..who? may be personal but i have better memories bout those songs and era then Dig out your soul.

It's aged far more gracefully, Liam sounds great on it, Noel's offerings are better, it's production is solid, and it did push their sound. DBTT is just a bland poorly produced waste, with some of Liam's worst vocals. It's an overall cringey listen. At least, DOYS could come out today and not sound out of place.

Fact is though, Importance Of Being Idle is the most important Oasis song since Be Here Now up until the very end.

Noel's song are miles better. Liam sounds great and the production blows DBTT out of the water. Not a total complete package but big improvements over HC and DBTT.

Boy With the Blues>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Let There Be Love I agree. I can't stand Let There Be Love. I get why Sardy wanted it. DBTT was really lacking at one point. It had no Lyla, no Importance of Idel and he had to beg Noel to dig up Let There Be Love to be the big Oasis anthem of the album. That didn't really happen. Sure it went #2 or #3 but feel off fast. It achieved that succes on the backbone of the previous singles and Oasis branding. That song hasn't made much noise literally since it came out in 2005. Oasis anthem? I think not.

Let There Be Love is not ultra shit, but it's not in my Oasis top 50, that's for sure. Off DBBT, only TIOBI would be in that top.

HC was a big time hit in England and Europe. They played enormous gigs, same as SOTSOG tour and DBTT tour and DOYS tours. They all had the same level as success in America and all the post 2000 albums are unbalanced. Some good tunes. Some ok tunes. Some shit tunes. So what is so different about DBTT compared to HC? The singles off HC were better overall. Big time sales. To me this is one big Oasis myth. Same as it ever was.

I actually wonder if they would have been better off taking a bigger break and working on some more tunes. Because while i do like some tunes on the album(mainly Turn Up The Sun and The Importance of Being Idle), i feel some of the others are rushed and have no place on a record, a bit like HC. If they waited a bit more, probably some of the good stuff they wrote for DOYS could have been used and have done a better record overall.

As far as I can remember "Idle" was a pretty big hit in the UK. I remember it being played in pubs all the time and in general people loving it. Apart from that i dont think the album caused much stir in general. Lyla was a bit of a flop.

Fact is though, Importance Of Being Idle is the most important Oasis song since Be Here Now up until the very end. At the time TIOBI blew my mind, it was so refreshing, it wasn't another DLBIA wannabe like Little by Little was, everything about the song is great: the pace, Noel's falsetto, production, lyrics, guitars.

The thing which I don't like about the album is that the production is very uneven, some of the songs are well produced like TIOBI, LYLA, MF, POTQ, TUTS, on the other hand some of the others aren't, I won't never forgive Liam's horrible take on Love Like A Bomb, he just ruined a beautifull melody, and the production on Keep The Dream Alive is a total mess, sometimes I just don't know what is happening on the song.

Geezer needs excitement, if his life doesn't provide it then he spouts nonsense. Common sense, simple common sense. What a way. What a way.

I agree. I would add in Guess God Thinks I'm Abel and (imo) Let There Be Love to the well-produced list; GGTIA especially since they really nailed the intimate, acoustic sound (except for the unnecessary ending). Back to your point, LLAB is a case where the demo almost sounds better than the album version (vocal take especially) and KTDA starts off so well and has such a nice feeling to it but lacks a certain consistency. Had it been given the type of approach Lyla was given (like it sounded like it was going for initially), it would've lived up to that good feeling and possibly even a valid standout from the album. As for the other songs you didn't mention, ABWR has a good riff but is unfinished, MF is fun but it's a Velvet Underground rip-off with a little bit of Dylan mixed in, and TMOS is fun but the very similar Eyeball Tickler is much better. Throw in Pass Me Down the Wine where ABWR is, then Lord Don't Slow Me Down where MF is, with some more consistent production on all of the songs, and you have a very good album.

Bag it Up 3. The Turning 4. The Shock of the Lightning 5. The Importance of Being Idle 6. Eyeball Tickler 7. I'm Outta Time 8. Lyla 9. Part of the Queue 10. Falling Down 11. Boy With the Blues

Boy With the Blues Of dear lord no. You can't mix these two albums, they're completely different. That wouldn't sound right.

Got bored this morning.... Below is a table showing 3 things mostly: 1) How I rank the tracks from each album cycle. 2) How I rank each track against the other two albums. 3) Total points achieved. | Heathen Chemistry

Take away... Looking at this, it is pretty clear to me that Don't Believe The Truth is certainly NOT the worst Oasis album. For me anyway.

After about 5 minutes, I think I've worked out what the table means.... So is it each album is sorted with the best track at the top of the pile, and the worst at the bottom? Then, the numbers next to each track is a comparison with the equally ranked track from the other two albums [So, The Turning > POTQ > SCYHO on the top row , TIOBI > Falling Down > THT on the second row, etc..?], showing which album has the 'worst best track' and the 'best worst track'?
