It has the lowest highs of any Oasis album, but doesn't have the absolute low like SOTSOG, HC and DOYS, although I detest Mucky Fingers.... Yeah that about sums it up. It definitely has the least "top" songs of any post BHN album. In that sense it's the least appealing Oasis album really. Cos there's not much there to want you to listen to DBTT again.

I agree with this thread, although DOYS is a close second. They are both shockingly bad albums, far worse than the much criticised HC on here.
Oasis Mk2 never really took off like the 90's Mk1 version, and these 2 albums prove it beyond doubt.
Throw in SOTSOG and HC too, and you can see the band had ran out of steam.

As the OP neglected to, I will provide some insight. Firstly, it absolutely isn't the worst album. However, it shows the problem with Oasis at the time. There are ONLY 2 Liam-sung/Noel-written tracks on the album. TWO. And one of those is a duet with Noel. That is a clear issue, in my opinion as it isn't Oasis. Additionally, there are several tracks which are filler, such as Love Like A Bomb, Keep The Dream Alive, A Bell Will Ring. There are several fantastic tunes, though. Lyla, Turn Up The Sun and Guess God Thinks I'm Abel. Added to this is the FANTASTIC The Importance Of Being Idle.
It's a good album but could have been so much better. The fact that this album put Oasis back up there in the spotlight, after a difficult two album cycles, when it could have been so much better, speaks volumes.

Definitely not their worst album but is probably their most overrated. I don't think it's aged well at all.

Noel wanted Mucky Fingers as a lead single. (Does this mean there is a Liam sung version of this song?)
And then he said he quitted drugs in 1999...

.............and no fucking way DBTT sold 6 million plus copies like so many "internet" sources say. Didn't do a million in the UK and did under 200,000 in America. Too much ground to make up around the globe in far far smaller markets. Germany and Japan are probably the next 2 biggest and I doubt it sold better than what I just named. Still miles and miles and miles off 6 million. 2-3 million sounds more like it.

It put Oasis back on track, it sold well, well received, two #1 singles, it was a great time to be an Oasis fan. A very good album IMO but still there are some weak spots on it.

I have fond memories of this album as it was my first time experiencing a build up to an Oasis album as a true fan. I wouldn't say it's the worst but it's in the bottom 3 for me, Turn Up The Sun, Lyla, Guess God Thinks I'm Abel and Let There Be Love being the stand outs.

As I've said a thousand times before on this forum, this is Oasis MK II's best effort. The band were in great spirits.
Andy contributed 'Turn Up The Sun' and he gets stick on this forum, that's a very good song that Noel would've been proud of. 'Keep The Dream Alive' is a good effort too IMO. Gem's song 'A Bell Will Ring' polarised people on here but it's probably the best song he contributed to Oasis. I like it.
Liam's songs on the album were, if not his best little bunch of 3, they were his most consistent. 'Abel' being the best of the three and could've been a single. 'Love Like A Bomb' is a charming little song and the piano break in the middle is one of the best moments on the album.
Noel was back and inspired, 'Idle' and 'Lyla' both went to #1, 'Idle' being a very new and fresh direction from Noel and without it, who knows where he'd be now because IMO it reinvigorated him as a songwriter for the first time since 'Morning Glory'. Despite what some members think on here 'Let There Be Love' is a bonifide classic in my eyes/ ears. I just absolutely adore it. My favourite song on the record, that middle 8 is genius, not to mention the outro and the coda, and it reached #2 in the charts (I think). 'Part Of The Queue' and 'Mucky Fingers' are as good as any album tracks/ filler as those present on the early Oasis albums. The tour was great, without any hiccups, which is a minor miracle. They were back.

Some songs for me just didn't age well. I love so many parts of Love Like A Bomb but that really is an awful Liam vocal take. What was Noel and Sardy thinking?!?!?!? Let There Be Love is too slow. I much prefer the SOTSOG demo. I feel like Oasis broke even for me on this album cycle. It began was high expectations with Death In Vegas but ended up a hodgepodge effort.

Avarage as fuck with a couple of classics. LTBL is fucking dreadful. And Keep The Dream Alive was a preview of a lot of sins Beady Eye would later commit. Sounds like a cover band covering Oasis except this was fucking Oasis!!!

Everything on there is just incredibly bland for me, save Idle. If it wasn't for 90's Oasis, I'd just lump the band at this point in with all the other generic and tepid indie bands of the 2000's. I can appreciate the newfound optimism of the band at this point, but I just never find myself coming back to the album. That said:
1. Turn up the Sun 2. Eyeball Tickler 3. Lyla 4. The Importance of Being Idle 5. Guess God Thinks I'm Abel 6. Part of the Queue 7. The Roller 8. Who Put the Weight of the World on my Shoulders? 9. Keep the Dream Alive 10. Let there be Love
#1: Lyla #2: The Importance of Being Idle - Album - #3: Let there be Love

The 'Let There Be Love' Demo is a funny one for me, you're not the only one who prefers it, but IMO it's perfect on the album. I've always found the demo a bit awkwardly paced, and I suppose Noel did too as to why it was changed. I suppose that's what happens when you become accustomed to a particular version of a song. I'm not saying this is the case with yourself but it has happened to me in the past... I much prefer the demo of Record Machine to the finished version.

Nice singing by the brothers but if the song goes any slower they could be time traveling back to the 90s.

Eyeball Tickler definitely should be on there. The other two maybe, but they are too firmly entrenched in my DOYS playlist to budge. You know what DBTT should have really been, though? An EP! 1. Turn up the Sun 2. Lyla 3. The Importance of Being Idle 4. The Roller 5. Part of the Queue 6. Let there be Love

I liked it then and I still do. They were popular at that time. 2 number one singles. Beatiful gigs at manchester statium. Sold out gig at madison square garden. Better album then Dig out your soul or heathen chemistry in my opinion. Those were good times.

It does my head in. I use to use it as a big bench mark measuring stick but it's slightly lost its luster over the last 15 years. I'm not sure how so many acts are selling it out constantly. Phish are currently on a 13 nigh sell out run.
