I read some reviews earlier and it left me indifferent, but this article on Independent is more positive, like the NME article. Very curious about the unheard songs, looks like Good Fight and Wasted are good fillers on the first half. Yeah, and I really want to hear the studio version of Put Your Life On It. What makes me upset is that Tom doesn't sing a song alone, you can hear Serge singing as well. I loved Ill Ray live because it was a Tom song, but in the studio version, they sing together. Like YILWAP. In fact, it upsets me too. Can't understand why Ill Ray doesn't have the same production (mainly vocal) as Comeback Kid, at least on the verses of CK you can listen Tom's voice. I appreciate Serge contribution and his job as producer, but I totally disagree about the recentlly lack of focus on Tom's voice. Let's see what he did with Acid House in studio.

On first listen, it is just another album from band which passed their prime long time ago. I don´t think it´s dreadful like 48:13 and yes, songs can get better after a few listens but there is for sure nothing as big and good as Club Foot, Fire, L.S.F. ... It´s just collection of pop/rock song, it´s not Pink Floyd or Jazz or rocket science that you have to analyze it too much so that you can understand it and appreciate it. So, I think that those songs should hit you on first listen and I think that is already safe to say that this songs don´t have that impact and that after few more listens, nothing spectacular will happen.

What happened to that song that was exclusive on a rare edition? Fragile I think it is called. Does somebody know where to get it?

Listened just once, enjoyed a lot. Strong album, very cohesive, even the slowly tracks make sense with the banger ones. For sure it is better than 48:13 and I'd say than Empire too, given the context. The entire album transmitted me a feeling of happiness, and it is exactly what Serge wanted with these songs, so I'd say it's a good done job.

Just heard the album and that statement about guitar music being saved could've been saved. Unless Serge was talking about acoustic guitar music. i dont think I heard a riff or solo in the whole album.
Way better as a whole than 48:I Forgot the seconds and Empire. But those albums had more memorable stuff in them(Stuntman, Empire, treat and stevie).
The live gig is amazing.

Love several tracks but the other tracks are so dull. Ill Ray is amazing, should have been the first single. All Through the Night sounds like some Beatles demo or something. 24/7 is great too and Comeback Kid with new intro is 30% better than FIFA version.
Also that bonus live CD is fucking amazing

Loooove the record. I didn't got bored in the whole album. Every song sounds great. The only thing I don't like in this album is the vocals. Sound overproduced and specially in Put Your Life On It. The first minute of that song is really bad because of the vocals. Every single song sounds like they are singing together but really bad mixed in the studio. But well, after the first listen I got used to it. Songs like Wasted AKA Its Raining Men or Are You Looking For Action are a great example to show that this album is different to the rest. I've never heard Kasabians songs sounding this way. Which is good to me. The best songs here? To me: -Ill Ray -You're In Love With A Psycho (grower choone) -The Party Never Ends -Sixteen Blocks -Put Your Life On It (hate what they did on the vocals, could've been so much better, but after the first minute it grows and to me is a magical song) The worsts/meh songs: -24/7 (The riff is really really cool, but once you listen to it,it doesn't have too much more to offer) -Bless This Acid House (Sounds like a Green Day happy summer song. The mix here is terrible and you can't really hear the song well because its so inflated with the guitars)
In the end,to me its better album than Empire. I did enjoy 48:13,to me is not a bad album. Songs like bumblebee or stevie are huge to me. This album is great as a whole, but the songs are not that amazing if you listen to them apart. But well,I need to give it more listens. Take this as my first impressions, but I would give it an 8'5/10. Maybe I change my mind for good (or for bad) in a few weeks. But all I can say that I love this album.
EDIT: Fuck,I say "to me" too much. In my defense,I will say that Im from Spain and don't know how to speak English perfectly. Tried my best lol

Short review:
ILL Ray (The King) - Great opener, reminds me of something from Favorite Worst Nightmare by Arctic Monkeys. The piano part in the middle of the song is a highlight You're In Love With a Psycho - I liked this song from the day it was released. Sounds like it could have been on Velociraptor! Nice groove, just wish you could Tom more in the mix of the song (this will be a constant criticism throughout this album.) Twentyfourseven - Is there even a tune in this track? By far the worst song on the album, doesn't go anywhere. Good Fight - Sounds very much like early Beatles, but can't quite pin down what song it reminds me of exactly. Nice song, Serge's background vocals are a highlight. Wasted - Okay filler, but nothing special. Love the sound of the acoustic guitar on the track, and the verse melody is nice. Comeback Kid - I've really grown to like this song. I didn't like it when it was released for Fifa but this new horn intro adds to it and I love the energy of it. Sounds like it could have been on Empire. The Party Never Ends - One of my favorite songs on the album. Sounds a lot like The Last Shadow Puppets. The drum beat and weird guitars are really beautiful. Are You Looking for Action? - Another great song, just wish Tom was on lead vocals instead of Serge. It's this album's "treat", although I don't think it's as good as that song. Nice groove that I could listen to all day. All Through the Night - Okay song, I've always had a soft spot for slow, Serge sung acoustic songs. I really do love his voice. The chorus is smooth and a bit eerie. Sixteen Blocks - This song to me seems like the oddest song out of the bunch. I don't even know how to describe it's sound, just boring blues honestly. Second worst song on the album. Bless This Acid House - I like this song, even though I like the live performances of it better. At least Tom is front and center for most of the song. I love the energy of it, reminds me of Cheap Trick. Put Your Life On It - BORING.
Not a bad album, just a bit uninspired. I'd rank the albums as such: Velociraptor! West Ryder Kasabian 48:13 FCOL Empire

About that song,Fragile. It was a mistake,Fragile ft. Labrinth do exist. But its a song by Kygo. Not Kasabian

Short review: Good Fight - Sounds very much like early Beatles, but can't quite pin down what song it reminds me of exactly. Nice song, Serge's background vocals are a highlight. The ending sounds like Liam Gallagher doing his Beatles impersonation of "La la la's" at the end. Outside of that not detecting any Beatles influence.
