I'm actually not particularly fond of either of these songs.... The Drugs Don't Work is a good song but it's utter dross when compared to songs like Slide Away and Brainstorm Interlude. Wish You Were Here is a good song but not the best on its parent album. Basically, neither are their respective band's best work, so I can't really get behind either choice. But I'm gonna vote for Wish You Were Here because: 1) The Drugs Don't Work was The Verve's death knell that foreshadowed what is possibly the worst music that has ever touched my ears (aka Ashcroft's solo career). Can't have that on a Most Perfect Album of All Time!! 2) I really hope we can get a much stronger Verve song on here, preferably something that shows their fucked-up, psychedelic groovy side. 3) The cool effect at the beginning of Wish You Were Here that makes it sound like someone's playing along with the radio already makes it more adventurous (and therefore better) than the (thankfully first-class) singer-songwriter tripe that is TDDW.

So now it's:
1. I Wanna Be Adored 2. Eleanor Rigby 3. Live Forever 4. Wish You Were Here

i'm going to be honest.... i listened to the drugs don't work on youtube last night and was completely underwhelmed. Have you ever heard the acoustic version of "So Sister" as well?

Radiohead-Let Down
Still doesn't give us a rocker but the idea of Wish You Were Here into Let Down is sublime

The right song won, but I agree in that both songs aren't their respective bands' best works.

So I'm just wondering, will any non-British band/artist make it into this album? And if so, who? My guess is Nirvana might have the best chance.

I think Nirvana would have been picked already if they were going to be No Apologises or Lithium could be outsiders but Teen Spirit, In Bloom, Heart Shaped Box and Come as You Are are already exempt My personal favourite Nirvana song On a Plain could be a rank underdog for 11 US bands that could feature are Guns n Roses (this album needs a rocker soon and Paradise City for 6 could be great), R.E.M. (any number of tracks from 82-89 are worthy), however as the Stones, Led Zep, Verve, Radiohead, Who, Sex Pistols are yet to be picked it'll be very England heavy

EDIT: i just checked and i have 'urban hymns' on my google play account. guess i will have a listen now. thanks.

But speaking of R.E.M. I think they would have a pretty good chance of getting track 11 with Nightswimming, at least I hope so
