I'm leaning towards "TJIFA", simply because I think it's sooo underrated, but 'Stop Me' would probably get more votes. Hmm... How Soon Is Now is the fifth track on Hatful of Hollow. This case is now closed. Yes and yes. How Soon Is Now for the win!

Yes and yes. How Soon Is Now for the win! i think in a head-to-head battle how soon is now would defeat there she goes. I certainly hope so! With all due respect, I don't think 'There She Goes' comes even close. It's a decent track with a nice melody, but it just doesn't reach the heights like for example (in this case) 'How Soon Is Now'.

You've all drank too much pepsi. I LOVE The Smiths, and I think "How Soon Is Now?" is a great track (one of their best) but "There She Goes" doesn't suffer of the comparison imo. You might prefer one or the other but I think that some of you underrate "There She Goes". Plus, "There Is A Light That Never Goes Out" has to be The Smiths song on that most perfect album

As I said it's an alright track, but it just lacks that "next step" imo, that turns a decent track into a song you want to listen to again and again. Maybe it's just my ears that are to blame for not getting it. That one always has to be mentioned of course, but as with 'This Charming Man', I've overplayed it too much to be able to appreciate it as much as I used to

We can only nominate one, but I think folk are pretty favourable towards How Soon Is Now. What's everyone's thoughts? Either or, one great track is going to be missing.

Track 5 next isn't it? I'm deliriously ill currently but I've never been more sure about anything than this. I nominate Little James!

Isn't Hatful of Hollow a compliation album?? I think it's fair to allow compilations as many of them include b-sides that haven't had any album release.

Out of the three Smiths songs, I also think "How Soon Is Now" has the biggest chance to win. It's one of the most cited Smiths song in the top 100 thread.

Btw, when does this round ends ? looking at past rounds there have been so many great songs nominated in each round, but if we're being totally honest out of all those songs there have been only two... maybe three songs in each round with any shot whatsoever of winning. round/track 5 is clearly going to come down between 'there she goes' and 'how soon is now'. i'd almost be tempted to say we have only those two songs go at it, head to head, for round 5 and see what happens

There are so many great songs that can't make the cut to just in the list, aswell (I would have loved to see "Thirteen in that list, but choices had to be made). Anyway, round 5 is gonna be a big battle

i assume if there is ever a tie, we would then have another vote with those two songs going head-to-head. curious to see if this will ever happen.

Okay just thinking ahead here but would you guys rather have the drugs don't work after live forever or A Northern Soul for track 5 instead? Just putting it out there I'd rather have the MONSTER that is Brainstorm Interlude as our Verve representative.
