I'm leaning towards "TJIFA", simply because I think it's sooo underrated, but 'Stop Me' would probably get more votes. Hmm... I love That Joke... but Stop Me... is in my opinion one of the greatest songs ever recorded. It's just perfect. was kind of hoping that 'there is a light that never goes out' would still be on the table down the road for track 9, but oh well.

By the way... my nomination for track #5 are: 'Rise' by Doves (I'll never stop saying that this is a superb tune) 'Society Is My Friend' by Kurt VileNeither of them have any chance to win, but they're two great songs by very underrated artists. Check 'em out if you have time.

God Save The Queen is track 5. Fuck, haven't noticed it before voting for it this round while I am a Sex Pistols fan. "Liar" is track 4.

If you thought that track 3 was gonna be a brutal fight, wait till we get to track 5. Especially since it's usually reserved for yet another big single! The Chemical Brothers - Setting Sun Gorillaz - Clint Eastwood Coldplay - Yellow Part of me really wants to see something else beat There She Goes. Not that it's a bad song, it's just that we need some variety. And The La's are overrated. There, I said it.

Beats everything by The Las to a pulp in my opinion - maybe U2s best song... man, I could talk about how great those lyrics are to that song all day long. Also want Dauoalogn by Sigur Ros there, heavenly piece of music.

Not that it's a bad song, it's just that we need some variety. And The La's are overrated. There, I said it. For sure since we're Oasis fans, we know The La's quite a bit, and if There She Goes wins, it would not be a surprise. But outside of this forum and some others, not a lot of people are familiar with The La's. Sure "There She Goes" was a little "hit" back in the day, but nothing comparable with "Yellow" or "Clint Eastwood" that are well known songs by casual music listeners (not necessarily a default, good tunes can be well known all over the world). And I don't think The La's are overrated. Tgey only made ONE album and it wasn't done the way Mavers wanted it to be. But there are some absolute gems on it, it's full of life, melodies, pop sensibility, it's probably one of my favourite albums. And There She Goes is perfect.

I'm nominating Stay (Faraway So Close) by U2. Beats everything by The Las to a pulp in my opinion - maybe U2s best song... man, I could talk about how great those lyrics are to that song all day long. damn you beat me to it, my favorite U2 song! nice one! alright then, my two nominations for track 5: go your own way - fleetwood mac lola - the kinks ^so one is a track off of what many consider to be one of the greatest albums of all-time, and the other is one of the biggest songs by one of britain's greatest bands of all-time. that has to count for something (ok, stepping down from my soapbox now )

I'm not a big U2 fan (don't even know if I've heard that track, but I'll have a listen), but 'Running To Stand Still' is one of my all time favorites, and I looked forward to be nominating it. But as I just found out, it obviously had to be the FIFTH track on Joshua Tree, so I guess that's not gonna happen

Well considering God Save The Queen is track 5 and not 4 I'm going to nominate that and Catching The Butterfly by The Verve.

I think it's fair to say that IF God Save The Queen wins this round for track four, then we'll have to give it to the second placed track.

Some grreat choices already for track 5. I nominate:
The La's - There She Goes (we talked about it but I don't think it has been nominated already) Flotation Toy Warning - Donald Pleasance

Tough choice but it has to be 'Stop Me', purely for the lyric "I fell down on the crossbar, and the pain was enough to make a shy bald buddhist reflect and plan a mass murder". I'm leaning towards "TJIFA", simply because I think it's sooo underrated, but 'Stop Me' would probably get more votes. Hmm... How Soon Is Now is the fifth track on Hatful of Hollow. This case is now closed.
