If true, it would signal that the album could be finished earlier than we thought.
July would be when we'd be figuring an initial build for his album, and I can't remember the last time Noel played a number of live shows before the release of his album. Maybe he'd be trying to drive the pre-order numbers up?

Doubt he would play anything new if he's playing to another band's audience... EDIT: Maybe 1 or 2 tracks if his album's out by that point

I'm not very pleased Noel supporting U2 to be honest.

I'm not very pleased Noel supporting U2 to be honest. Why not? Because he's big enough to headline his own shows and supporting is kind of a step back?

No, it's because I can't stand Bono. Edge is one of my favourite guitarists by the way. I'm not too crazy about him either. I loved early U2, from their first album until "War". I still like their followings like "Unforgetable Fire" and "With or Without You", but since Bono can't keep stop to put his nose in politic, I have no longer interest in them. Still really love Edge's guitar work in "11 O'clock Tick Tuck". Just brilliant.

In fairness mimmihopps although Bono comes across as a hypocritical, sanctimonious prat (pot-kettle with me? ) I think he genuinely does believe the points of view he espouses, and at this point in their career there must be something more than money keeping U2 together as they could comfortably buy a decent shareholding in most multinationals without breaking the bank. If anyone can reach the notoriously disinterested U2 crowd as a support act it will be Noel Gallagher, and if he can do dates in places where his records haven't maybe sold as well as they could then this could be the way to rectify that. As to The Edge an ardent The Clash fan who IIRC had a story admitting he was in a lift with them in the early 1980's and was too awestruck to speak! Also his Rock n' Roll Hall induction of them was a rare time that a genuine fan inducted another band

If this turns out to be true I'd pay huge money for tickets.
U2 are one of the few big bands left that I still haven't seen live.

To be honest I never really got into U2. Sure they did some great songs and are a huge act but I think I never would pay money to see them. Also not if Noel opens for them... I´d rather pay money to see Liam opening for Ashcroft in Manchester this June
