Apparently the new Ride album was recorded in just 17 days back in December.
Also, Erol Alkan has been posting a few things about the album recently, so maybe an announcement (single?) is near...

This month's MOJO magazine features a one-page article on Ride new's album. An interesting read, that confirms an early-summer release date and that also provides some song titles: Integration Tape Charm Assault (which is one of the song performed live last year, I wonder which one) Weather Diaries Home Is a Feeling Lateral Alice All I Want I am officially hyped now Full article (thanks to RideTheNetwork Twitter account for the pic, I tried to make it more readable. Full-size pic HERE):

Charm Assault is definitely Untitled #2 ( link) and judging by the lyrics Untitled #1 ( link) could be Weather Diaries.

A track inspired by The Disintegration Loops? If he'd bothered to be that innovative and more open minded with Beady Eye, perhaps they wouldn't have been such a failure. Anyway, it sounds like the old Andy Bell has returned and not the derivative dad rock extraordinaire incarnation. Thank fuck for that.

Dreadful, uninspired. Bad. That intro is shocking. New Stone Roses was worse though, so at least it's better than that?
Not a good start. At least the old stuff still soars.

I like it. Sounds better than the live version. Anyone catch the lyrics? Surprised this is the comeback single when Untitled 1 and 3 are much stronger tracks. Dreadful, uninspired. Bad. That intro is shocking. New Stone Roses was worse though, so at least it's better than that? Not a good start. At least the old stuff still soars. What did you think of Untitled 1 and 3? Videos are on page 1

I'd not expected anything better, nor worse after hearing the live versions (this is my least favourite of the three). It's decent but the album hopefully has better songs than this.

I'm really not sure what to think of this. It shoots for Twisterella yet ends up being bland and generic. Let's hope that there's more of that shoegaze chaos on the next single.

I don't mind it, although it's not great. Untitled #1 & #3 were a lot more promising, I guess they wanted to go for the easy 'n catchy route for the first single.
That lead guitar after the intro is good though (the intro, erm, not really).

Small bit of info: I don't know if it's accurate or not, but Steve Queralt (aka the bass player) is listed as the composer in the mp3 I got off Amazon. I would have put my money on Andy.

So I've made up my mind, it's not a great song. The song tries so hard to be a pop song like Twisterella, but in doing so it sacrifices all of the hallmarks of Ride. Where are the layers upon layers of wah-wah'ed grooves? Ride's strength has always been in finding those certain chord progressions that you could play forever, with a simple melody sung over it. Not in writing pop songs.

Never took to Andy Bell. Always looked out of place in Oasis for me. And a boring oul c*nt to boot.

That lead guitar after the intro is good though (the intro, erm, not really). Intro riff is great but not a big fan of the chorus. Nevertheless this wasn't the promising track I liked anyway but it isn't a bad song. Star Roving is immediately a better single (that one took me awhile to truly appreciate, because I wasn't used to the fast paced composition of it).

Not a bad song, but the intro is quite appalling. The main guitar that goes throughout the verses has a lovely tone and it's pretty catchy. Chorus isn't good. Like some said, expectations were high for a proper shoegaze comeback... let's wait and see.
