"Remix" by Chris Potter? A bit concerned hearing that. Thought this was a remaster. Still excited for it, but please Chris don't put strings on 'The Sun, the Sea'. Leckie's original work is a masterpiece. I think it's a remix like Rush did with Vapor Trails (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vapor_Trails#Vapor_Trails_Remixed) i.e. none of the actual recorded content will be changed, just sound levels, dynamics etc. It's basically going back to and changing what's done in between producing and mastering the record. According to wiki Leckie both produced and mixed the album so some of his work is likely to be tampered with but in the end it should sound pretty much the same (and hopefully even better). (Disclaimer: As this is all my amateurish understanding of things someone who actually knows more about this than me is very welcome to correct me if I'm wrong.)

Dare I say the Verve reissues look better than the Oasis ones?

Hope it's not a remix and that was a typo as well, it's just I worry that a modern remix would boost Rich's vocals up too much over the guitars, like with the 2004 remaster/new mix of Slide Away for the singles compilation.

New Song! 'South Pacific' Had to download it (not available in US) but goodness this was incredible. Early Verve always melts away what's left of your existence.

Sounds incredible!
By the way, it's great to see some footage from Sawmills. A legendary place: A Storm In Heaven, Fool's Gold and (partially) Definitely Maybe were recorded there!

Interesting! Though it doesn't say that it's a 3 CD release like the other albums, only a vinyl reissue. I hope they'll give the deluxe treatment to UH soon, I'd love to hear the outtakes.

drownedinsound.com/in_depth/4150293-why-a-storm-in-heaven-is-the-verves-masterpieceAs the writer suggests, it's the 'psychedelic storms' of The Verve that make me love them, rather than the balladry of later years. The vivid descriptions in this piece (based on the very evocative music) sum up exactly why The Verve are great for me. Another separate point I'd like to make is that while it's a bit messy and often sounds like one long jam, the album Forth, I feel, is closer to the original incarnation of The Verve. Instrumentally, a really really great band when given the reigns with Richard Ashcroft's enigmatic lyrics. A Verve reunion isn't a bad idea in my opinion - and of all bands to choose from who you'd like to have a reunion, I believe this one would have more legs to it than most (e.g. Oasis). It's an album I'm still very fond of. Songs like Lucky Man and so on are good, but they just don't quite take you on that sonic adventure of The Verve when all band members are pulling their weight. It's really why Ashcroft's solo career doesn't interest me at all - I find it quite dull to be honest and is a mere shadow of what the ballads he did write during his Urban Hymns years.

What's King Riff (AKA This Is Music) exactly?

What's King Riff (AKA This Is Music) exactly? It's probably an early studio take of This Is Music. Look up "Been on the Shelf Too Long", an early live version of This Is Music, it may be similar to King Riff.

Just got 'ASIH'. It really is one of the best albums of all time IMO. The bonus content on Disc 3 is great, and the remaster itself gives the album a brand new listening experience.
