Let's end this debauchery of a debate right here, right now.
I vote a resounding - NO!
Stripping BHN defeats the entire purpose of the album. It's fun because it's so bloated and self-indulgent, not in spite of it.
Frankly, it's not loud enough! Fuck Spinal Tap, turn that shit to 12!
Shut up! [Insert random jazz here]. Oh dear.

No!!
To strip BHN of all of its ridiculous guitar overdubs would remove what made the album great in the first place. Removing the guitars might slightly benefit songs like Stand by Me and Don't Go Away, but can you imagine songs like DYKWIM, My Big Mouth, and It's Gettin' Better (Man!!) without the outrageous wall of a million guitars as on their album versions?? I sure as hell can't!!
But anyway, from the descriptions of the Mustique demos that we have, it seems that BHN Naked was already recorded by Noel Gallagher when vacationing on that Caribbean island. So whether or not Noel wants to remix BHN, we're already gonna get that stripped down version when we get the Mustique demos with the BHN reissue. Whether we will ever get them is another matter....

No. The album is what it is, what Oasis were at that time - over the top.

The choice isn't mutually exclusive though. We can have BOTH. So I say yes, give me both. And the Mustique demos (which will essentially be BHN naked anyway).

I think liam's voice was at its best during this period, but noel's songwriting and the production were not at their strongest (though still good).
With all that's happening in some of the be here now mixes, it can definitely distract from the quality of liam's voice, and I'd love to hear mixes that focus more on that.

I'd love a stripped back, alternative version like a 'director's cut'. That doesn't rewrite history or replace the original like George Lucas tried with the Special Editions of Star Wars.

I've always like the name Be Here Now and the sentiment it gives of "live for the moment" and as others have said it reflects the attitude and environment around them at the time....and I also love the title "There and Then" in a similar vein.
I voted no in terms of I wouldn't have changed it at the time or even now. I would however like to hear stripped back versions of all the tracks. Surely that's what most people would say / want? You can't want to have never had BHN high in octane.

I want it to be disc 2 yea just because why not? think songs like dont go away and stand by me would benefit from it.
like ive said before though Noel said he stopped editing it because the sound was what made it what it was.......so from that he should now not hate it so much because he realizes its ok like it is....but he still hates it...so basically hes lazy, he had the opportunity to fix it and he couldnt be bothered.

I get that both versions can exist at the same time, it would be interesting, and one version shouldn't affect the other version, so in that sense it's a meaningless question (Do you want another CD or not? Yeah, might as well have another if you're offering...) But I sort of see the question as being "Would a stripped back version of Be Here Now show the album at a different/interesting enough angle to justify releasing it?". In that sense I don't think it would work. It might end up being easier to pick out the different instruments and stuff if you're into that sort of thing, and the shorter running length might help eliminate "The Mid-'Be Here Now' Toilet Break", but I just don't see the point of it. Releasing rehashed old stuff happens unnecessarily with a lot of music and just ends up diluting artists' back catalogues. e.g. Bought Loveless from HMV last year and saw it had a bonus disc which was kinda exciting seeing as it didn't have the tracklisting on the back. Then to find out that the second disc was exactly the same as the first disc except for one was "Remastered From Original Tape" and the other was "Mastered From Original 1/2 Inch Analogue Tapes", with next to no difference between the two was a bit of a pisstake. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loveless_(album)If a stripped back version of Be Here Now was released, I'd put money on me giving it a listen or two and then going back to the 'classic' version unless it was a massive departure from the original (which would be more of a 'remix' than a 'stripped back' version). I know that's biased towards the original, but nothing will change the fact that the original's the one I heard first and means something to me and a stripped back version has very little chance of defining itself in its own right as a distinct separate equal to (or better than) the original. tl;dr I VOTED NO.

Like mentioned above, having both would be cool. But in general I am not fussed. Although, I would love a proper version of Don't Go Away without the constant riffing throughout the song..

I definitely don't want a WTSMG-like production version that cuts a few minutes and some layers of guitar. That's what makes BHN what it is. I'm not interested in a version of The Queen Is Dead where someone else plays Johnny Marr's guitar parts either! A more acoustic version that just strips the songs down to a minimum could be more interesting.

I would have personally thought Be Here Now as it is and a reissue with the Mustique demos would give us the 'naked' version- as @isness pointed out unless you go full on remix and completely change the record, which seems pointless nearly twenty years after the original release, then all you are selling is Be Here Now plus Be Here Now with a couple of alterations.

No, but I hope the individual guitar/bass/drum/vocals etc tracks leaks one day like they did with DOYS (Or was that guitar hero?) so we can make our own mixes. I don't have a problem with the length of extravagance of it all, I just wish the sound was less brickwalled and people on here made some really cool mixes out of the DOYS audio tracks

just upload this up on youtube and Ill happy. Maybe it's just me and the fella in the comments, but that sounds exactly like Liam's BHN vocal to me ripped over the top of someone's backing track? As ever could be magnificently wrong, it certainly wouldn't be the first time
