After Let's all make believe, The boy with the blues must be the most overrated song on this forum. That or Flick Of The-oooh horns, how daring-Finger. Two great, one good. I personally don't see them as overrated.

People are just annoyed that two of them got dumped to b-sides or bonus tracks. You wanna talk overrated? How about Noel hyping up "Stop The Clocks" and "Record Machine" non stop between 2002 and 2008. They are both sadly average and don't match any of the descriptions Noel gave to them over the years.

So so true! I can't stand STC or RM. STC is one of the worst oasis songs ever...and that includes any LAG songs

I think The Beat Goes On is one of the best Beady Eye songs. Had that been the closer to DOYS instead of the dull Soldier On, it would have been a far better way to end the album, and Oasis career.

I'll have to disagree here. I quite like Soldier On, it's obviously not as good as the first tracks on DOYS but it fits well as an album closer. The Beat Goes On, on the other hand... I might be in the minority here but I think it's truly awful. I can hardly think of anything more stale, clichéd, cheesy and fake 60s-sounding.

The Beat Goes On is one of the worst songs Andy ever wrote. Total rock n roll cliche nonsense. Boy With The Blues was the ideal choice for a DOYS closer.

I actually really like The Beat Goes On In fact I like most of DGSS, I don't know much about the BE songs but I imagine most of them were around in some form during the DOYS sessions, Wigwam or Morning Son would be have been great on that album

Did Noel place the worst LAG songs on DOYS?
Well it's not like LAG had proposed Isn't It a Pity or Art of Dying and were rejected.

It's an interesting theory, but if it's true, why in the WORLD would he put "(get off your) High Horse Lady" on the album ? That's one of his own worst songs ! haha Noel admitted at the time that High Horse Lady and Ain't Got Nothing were earmarked for B-sides. That might be very well be true. The songs are not on par with the first half of the album. Also for later day Oasis it seemed important to have certain amount of songs from LAG. This can be seen on HC, DBTT and Noel's answer about the imaginary eight Oasis album in the reddit Q&A (2 tracks from Liam, 1 from both Andy & Gem and 5-6 of his IIRC). If you take Ain't Got Nothing out of DOYS, there's still enough Liam's songs to keep him happy (Soldier On and I'm Outta Time). Then again he claimed that had Liam recorded his vox instead of getting married, Come On Outside and Record Machine would have been on the album. They had already recorded the choir parts for those two and I don't think they would have went that far if they weren't going to be release the tracks. Luckily we got at least The Turning which is IMHO the best out of those three. But why not to include I Believe in All or Boy with the Blues instead of High Horse Lady and Ain't Got Nothing? Personally I think Sardy played some role in deciding the tracklisting - the groove concept was originally his idea after all!

I think Come on Outside not that great, also it would have been strange to have another song with almost the same chorus of TSOTL.

I think it would have slipped perfectly at track six, a concise rocker after the "I'm Outta Time" balladry - and then you get plunged into Falling Down. That one swap would make the whole album massively better. "To Be Where's There's Life" should have been closer to the live version with guitars and then the first eight tracks would have been fucking massive. So close.

BE is a much better record, it sounds fresh and interesting, while The Beat Goes On (and many other tracks from DGSS) would have sounded outdated and uninspired even in the 1970s...

The fact that High Horse is on there but not I Believe In All says it all really, doesn't it?
The shameful fact is that had Noel allowed that Liam song to be on DOYS, it would've been better than almost all of Noel's songs, and he wasn't gonna allow that.
