I believe DGSS sold very well (I cant remember though), BE was the album that only sold a fraction of it and it was arguably the better album. overall though, DGSS is a horrible album imo, not totally throw away but the album has too many long tunes like morning son and wigwam. The production is dated as fuck (this couldve released in 1961) and the songs generally arnt up to much. if BE had released first they mightve stood more of a chance. People just abandoned them after DGSS. I think the problem was not, that there were long tunes like Wigwam or the morning son, which were and are still seen as some of the better beady eye tunes, but thrre were too many filler songs like wind upndream, standing on the edge of the noise etc. Songs that lack substance. I love gem and andy but so,e of their tunes are just bland. I am writing songs myself but I would not feel confident putting outbsomething like these two. Liams songs on the other hand may seem a bit sketchy but IMO always have soul and energy in them.

I still like Beady Eye records, that's my though of the day. Looking back on it, if released today, DGSS or Be would be a success. Timing was bad, that's all.

Never thought I'd say this but BE actually suffers a bit because of Liam's vocals. Pure nasal, his worst vocals on a record easily.

Thatβs actually funny looking back because when BE dropped this forum went with the usual line of βbest vocals in yearsβ routine. Some tracks are better than others with the nasal sounds. Start A Knew comes to mind first in terms of nasally.

I often think about what would have happened if: - Gem didn't have that nasty fall? - Liam et al. made it to America and played at Coachella? - all that shit in Liam's private life didn't happen?
I think they wouldn't carry on for much longer than they did. The Coachella gig was challenging enough for them, as Liam would have to pay for all the expenses out of his own pocket just to take the band there. Beady Eye was just not self-sustainable enough, and having to fund all of the band's activities on their own and acting as their own label was going to turn the whole thing into a bottomless pit.

Watching As It Was showed I've All I Need was knocking about before they even went in the studio to record BE. How on earth was that left off? Glad it was now because I highly doubt we would of got the great recording we have of it now. Still though, very weird decision.

Does anyone else think that "Kill for a dream" sounds like "Cry for help" by Rick Astley?

Which are the 7 great ones? How many of those had been written over a number of years? They're all there, just read. I'd rather have a Liam solo album every 4 years that's 100% him than a Miley Cirus reject every couple of years to get some quick cash, but that belongs to another thread. Between DGSS and BE, there's a complete Liam record. Those two records are two year apart. So it's not impossible. But yeah, would need hard hard work, something Liam does not want to do apparently. I'll do it for you, since you're a bit lazy yourself. Flick of the Finger Beatles And Stones (different theme, obviously) Bring the Light Soul Love For Anyone Don't Brother Me (different lyrics, obviously) Shine a Light The World's Not Set in Stone Evil Eye Wigwam The Morning Son Start Anew Strong record if you ask me, obviously need re-arranging and strong production, cut it to maybe 10 tracks. There's also Man of Misery from that period, and Universal Gleam too, and who knows, maybe others we've never heard of. The more you write the more you will write, the more material you will have, simple as that. If Liam stuck to it seriously, by now he would have albums worth in him coz he would be an experienced songwriter. The day he stops thinking of himself as only a singer / performer, something could happen. Until then...

I love Flick of the Finger and the BE Bonus tracks but here is an unpopular opinion. The production on the bulk of BE didn't age well for me. I liked BE better than DGSS at the time but now I'm not so sure. Either way, Liam's solo stuff is better than both albums.

I miss these guys together. Saw them live a fair few times...more than Oasis..and I do have to say the atmosphere was brilliant. I loved Man of Misery...especially being front row and Liam singing "fighting with the white!"...and gesturing the old ya yo up the hooter... made me crack up! filmed that too..by total accident!

So it's 2019 and I'm still apparently the only person that loves Different Gear and prefers it to BE - at least according to this thread. Cool
