Still one of the best songs to come out of a post Oasis release. And I still believe 100% that it should have been the very first song we heard from Beady Eye. Nothing against Bring The Light (I like it and I really like it live) but it gave critics and anti Oasis fans enough ammunition to blast them. It was going to be hard to shake those first negative impressions so many people spoke about and read.

I've always thought The Beat Goes On has a very familiar melody, almost nostalgic. That's why I like the song.
Anyway, I've been trying figure out why it sounds so familiar and I finally realised it might be from this:
Are they similar or am I just imagining things?

Not at all, it is pretty similar and they were definitely inspired by that little melody from Hello Goodbye. The "cha cha cha cha" part towards the end of Hello Goodbye appears in a similar form on Bag it Up in that interlude after the first run through the chorus. Noel does it in the background, if you listen closely.

"The World's Not Set In Stone" is a missed opportunity for a good single. Same goes for "I'm Just Saying".

But at that point the war was lost. Wasn’t gonna change the impact or succes of BE. All that band managed to do was delay solo Liam which is all any of us wanted if Oasis proper couldn’t be back together. Thank you, next.

The Liam Gallagher name holds much, much more weight than anything like Beady Eye ever would. I understand what they were trying to do, but there was just too much stigma, singles aside, of it being Oasis minus Noel.

I love Oasis Liam and Noel, to the point where I am more or less blinded to anything that they do.
But fuck me, Beady Eye were shit.

'The Roller' just came on randomly... I'm glad it wasn't added to any Oasis release... it really is average. Incredibly average. It's like drinking plain milk.
and we already got plenty of average to poor on late era Oasis releases.

Off at the Next Exit remains the greatest post-Oasis song.

Maybe make it a little more dirty and garage rock sounding but in 2002 it was right up Oasis alley.

I think that 'As It Was' will spark a mini revival in Beady Eye interest. I haven't seen it, yet. But if there is any footage of Beady Eye songs and that, it could turn more people onto them.

Most people stopped giving a shit about Beady Eye a week after their first album came out unfortunately.

I believe DGSS sold very well (I cant remember though), BE was the album that only sold a fraction of it and it was arguably the better album.
overall though, DGSS is a horrible album imo, not totally throw away but the album has too many long tunes like morning son and wigwam. The production is dated as fuck (this couldve released in 1961) and the songs generally arnt up to much.
if BE had released first they mightve stood more of a chance. People just abandoned them after DGSS.
