Gave a new spin to DGSS since the release of Liam's new tunes, and it sounds marvellous. Way more heart, soul and... why were people complaining for again ? A few tracklisting changes and you got a very good LP. I tried to listen to it a couple weeks back... got bored by track 5 and had to stop it. I'm not sure what "heart and soul" you found on that record. It sounds like a band going thru the motions of making a record because that's all they know how to do. Full disclosure, I was a massive fan of it upon release, but it has aged worse than a bologna sandwich with mayonnaise. Too many tracks. Too many of which fall under the "meh" category. I recon they really only had about 5 or 6 quality tunes, but decided to drop 13 tracks on the record. They were cleaning out the back-catalogue with this album and it showed. Most tracks are stale. Just my opinion of course. DGSS is a rough listen - I don't know if it's possible I can listen to it in a full sitting, I'd probably be done by Wind Up Dream. Everything about it is so jaded to me - it must be a miracle for those who can enjoy this record.

Didnt think Beady Eye were bad at all. Loved the hype before the first album, really didnt like Bring the light when i first heard it, actually grew on me due to the live performances. Loved hearing those 30 sec clips of all the new songs, liked a lot of them back then.
Getting the album was great, thought the album was decent but looking back a break after the Oasis split might have been better. Seeing them at the Troxy was exciting, brand new songs rather than Oasis stuff. Saw Beady Eye a few times but they lacked that' killer tune'.
Really liked BE, hearing flick of the finger the first time was great, still love that tune now, another great opener like FLW. Thought BE was a really good album, saw them in Warrington Parr when they did rock n roll star for the first time. Hearing other Oasis songs was great during this tour, bit depressing to say the least seeing them at Manchester Ritz as the crowd seemed pretty small.
Think they get unfairly knocked, sadly lacked killer tunes but were pretty good live and had some good songs on both albums. Just seems 'fashionable' now to knock every single thing they did which is a shame

'we're not Oasis, we're BEADY EYE. to play Oasis songs would be kidding the fans and most importantly... kidding ourselves' -LG 2011

Yeah I actually rated Beady Eye for not doing Oasis songs (at first) and trying to survive on their new material. I still liked those gigs, exciting hearing brand new songs instead of Wonderwall etc i've heard for years.
Of course that didnt work out, the first time they did Rock n roll star (Troxy) was amazing, crowd went mad. Easy to look back but from day 1 they should have done a few Oasis songs to mix in with the new songs no one really knew. Hearing Gimme Shelter as the finale was brilliant as was the song BE always ended with before 'Sons of the stage'.
But it didnt work out, again they did some good stuff (Still love 'Evil Eye') and some of the tunes people would have loved if it had simply been an old Oasis tune for sure.
Just think all the over the top hate for BE is ridiculous

I bought both albums and didn't rate them very highly at the time. I still go back and listen to them occasionally and it's always better than I remembered.

Never understood the hate for the Beat Goes on as well, although it is way too long. As i said, i revisited the tracklist FLW Millionaire The Roller Bring the Light For Anyone Wigwam World Outside My Room Man of Misery The beat goes on Morning Son Not the best record ever, but some good tunes. And it sounds pretty good on quality headphones. Four Letter Word The Roller Two Of A Kind Bring The Light For Anyone Kill For A Dream World Outside My Room In The Bubble With A Bullet Wigwam The Beat Goes On The Morning Son

The problem with DGSS is that all of the good songs bar Four Letter Word are slower. They had to shove dross like Beatles and Stones, Wind-Up Dream and Standing on the Edge of the Noise on there to give it some energy but they're borderline unlistenable.

DGSS has some great songs but they are hurt by the dated production.

I really need to listen to more of these guys. I was left a little flat after hearing DGSS but that was some time ago now. Gonna listen to BE after my As You Were fix has departed.

Apropos of "As You Were" I listened to "Different Gear, Same Speeding" today for the first time. I've got "Four Letter Word", "Bring The Light" and "Sons Of The Stage" downloaded from when they came out but I think the cover of all things kept me away from the LP. Now I've listened to it and I never want to hear the rest of those songs again. Absolute dog eggs.
"BE" I quite like though.

I can't believe that Gem wrote as good a tune as "Off At The Next Exit" is. It beggars belief that it wasn't part of the album, for fuck's sake!

Yep thats a great tune which sadly a lot of people wont ever hear as its tucked away on that album. Excellent tune though.
Four Letter Word was brilliant when it came out, remember that live version they did in the studio ? Liam was like a caged tiger in that room doing the vocals, Sharrock was brilliant on the drums, it was great.
I actually liked it when they teased us with 30 second clips of all the songs on DGSS, must admit thought it was going to sound great. Still like it but always thought the production was quite poor/simple, not so polished. Still some tunes

Enjoyed Beady Eye gigs more than the Oasis ones I saw, it was great to see Liam sing in a more intimate space and they were a great live band. Plus it was easy to get tickets Song wise they were not consistent enough, though I still absolutely LOVE Wigwam and For Anyone, prefer those tunes to a lot of latter day Oasis. There were a few other good ones too, especially the B-Sides and some of the bonus tracks. I didn't get the praise for BE, thought it was a total miss. I struggle to get through it now and I'm not sure I would miss any of those tunes if I never heard them again. The PR for that record was one disaster after another, with hindsight I'm really not surprised it killed the band. As You Were is a better album in terms of consistency than the Beady Eye records, but I'm not sure there's a song on there that I love as much as Wigwam.

Beady Eye isn't as bad as some people make it out to be.

I didn't like this song but Liam made me change my mind. This cover isn't perfect, but it's very touching and that's snought for me.

Before Gem's injuries Beady Eye were ridiculously good musically.
Quality on this is a bit shitty, but download the gig and listen to Wigwam through headphones. Just brilliant.
