Took a listen to Chasing Yesterday for the first time since hearing Holy Mountain. As much as I love CY, I really hate how all of the songs are invariably midtempo. Listening to them is like walking through a thick layer of jello. Granted, this works very well for some of the songs (Riverman, The Right Stuff, and While the Song Remains the Same). But on the other songs, even though they're good in their current states, they're practically begging for the same jolt of energy that made Holy Mountain. Especially The Mexican. I used to love this song for how goofy it was, but today it sounds far too sluggish, watered-down with no punch, not nearly as much fun as it should've been. Makes you wonder what David Holmes would've done with CY. That's why it's a general struggle listening to a full post-90s Oasis related album - there's not nearly enough variation. And if it's really really poor music - like the majority of Beady Eye albums - then it really comes off as the most creatively docile and impotent music you could ever wish to hear. On the other hand, individually Noel's songs are good, and when they appear on shuffle I don't skip them, but as a whole album they don't offer an immersive listening experience at all. Holy Mountain makes everything seem so much tame in comparison. The promise of variation with Who Built The Moon is probably the most exciting thing about it.

I've been listening to "Holy Mountain" and couldn't shake off the feeling that I've heard a song like this before. Finally found it! Listen to this, then play "Holy Mountain" at 1.25x speed

Anyone else found that the Holy Mountain artwork makes for a fantastic desktop background?

The next time Noel wants a saxophone on one of his songs, I hope it sounds like this:

Always happy to crack wise on here - and it’s just too tempting when Noel promises experimentation then wheels out something resembling a Dire Straits studio outtake - but I genuinely hope the rest of the album is a lot better. I actually really like Dire Straits.......*runs for cover* Dire Straits was my original favourite band before oasis

Never thought I would ever see Mr. Brötzmann on an Oasis forum. Cheers to that.
On a funny note, I once used that track to try to clear a party at my place and my friends were so fucking drunk they didn't even notice! I'm sure my neighbours loved it though
As for Noel, you have to give him credit for allowing a bit of skronk on The Right Stuff and grit on Riverman. Normally when pop/rock artists invite reed players, it's because they want them to go for a cheesy sweet sound or a King Curtis impersonation if you're lucky.

Noel really would have made the perfect replacement for Simon Cowell. He should have taken up the gig, ffs.

I woke up today feeling like listening to "Holy Mountain" and now it's constantly on repeat. Is this Noelitis, and is it contagious?

I actually really like Dire Straits.......*runs for cover* If post-Oasis material was on a par with Dire Straits then that would be a monumental success. I don't own any of their albums aside from a best of collection but Tunnel of Love is an outstanding song, that outro is one of music's greatest. Also, Mark Knopfler is one of the greatest guitarists of all time. In fact, the best example of their talent is actually the soundtrack to one of my favourite films Local Hero (credited to Mark Knopfler, but performed by most of Dire Straits). There is no more beautiful guitar melody in the world than this piece. Better to sound like this than some jumped up knuckle dragging three chord indie act.

Noel has that ex smoker complex. It's not enough for him that he changed, he has to slag off group of people whose member he once was.

Never ever seen this with Noel or Oasis. These are just what Eventim still have on sale, pretty much all areas still available at N’castle.

Hope WBTM doesn’t fall back completely in to “songy” territory at any point. Don’t need any more Uncle Happy Jack Normal Noel, thank you very much. He doesn’t have the voice to hold my attention over a LP so hoping he can compensate with ideas.
