How this was not on his debut solo album i will never understand. Seriously. That song, A Simple Game of Genius, and Let the Lord Shine a Light on Me should've been on that album over Stop the Clocks and a couple others. They are some of Noel's best post-BHN works. Plus, Let the Lord and ASGOG as a one-two punch to close the album would've been amazing.

Absolutely mate. Noel has had some questionable calls over the years, it begun with many choices on Oasis later albums and has continued with his solo work.

I couldn't disagree more. While I agree that the songs mentioned are great tunes, there are a couple of reasons why they are rightfully left off the debut record in my opinion. 1) They don't mesh with the vibe of the record. Too melancholy frankly. While I enjoy the occasional out-of-place tune on a record, these songs would drastically change the feel of the record as a whole. 2) Length... ASGOG is too long for a modern Noel record. This isn't mid-90's Oasis anymore. 3) Part of my love for Oasis related releases is all the extras that are often of equal/better quality. For me... a lot of the love these songs get is due to them not being on the record. They are seen as "hidden" gems that only us fans really appreciate. Hindsight being 20/20, I find it far too easy to dismiss certain tracks simply because they are not the top track of a record. Shakermaker is a pretty good example of a track that rates low when compared to the rest of DM, but if you remove it from that record you certainly lose some of the charm of album. Album composition isn't simply grabbing the best individual tracks and throwing them together. Stop The Clock (the album) is a compilation of the best tunes, and it is also not a very great listen overal as an album.

My two least favourites on that album are Stop The Clocks and Record Machine, but apart from Alone On The Rope, I'm not sure any of the mentioned tracks in this thread would be better replacements.

I was torn on where to post this since it´s an Oasis song but it is with the HFB line-up so:
Man, the fucking emotion he has in this performance is off the charts. He really feels the song, probably thinks of Sara all the day through.

I must be the only person that thinks Alone On The Rope is very average, verging on boring.

I just love to listen to Noel´s acoustic stuff, he´s fucking great there. Sitting Here in Silence is another great acoustic concert of his.

What a Life! is an awful song. I almost prefer The Quiet Ones.

Is it just me or does it feel like Chasing Yesterday came out so much longer than 2 years and 4 months ago?
I DESPERATELY need this new Noel single asap.

What a Life! is an awful song. I almost prefer The Quiet Ones. I understand not liking the song... but comparing it to The Quiet Ones feels like a stretch. On that note... I'm not a huge fan of The Ballad of The Mighty I either. Even with Noel's best video attached, it's still kind of blah.

Only time i saw a Gallagher live, remembered to listen back to it tonight. Shame it was only one hour, but one of my best hours musically wise for sure. Blur funnily enough was on the same festival that year and i also saw them live, not the same though although the atmosphere was great.

Maybe some ten years ago? ;P

I've said this many times before: Alone on a Rope would fit perfectly on Coldplay's debut album - same eerie atmosphere, same vocals, etc.

Alone on the Rope is far too dark and haunting to fit with Parachutes's restrained sadness. However, it ain't too far away from this Parachutes-era b-side:

What annoyed be about noel's concert was that on the left side you hand to stay like 20 meters away from the stage because of the VIP area... and no one seemed very interested anyway

Anyone think the demos from Chasing Yesterday will be released? I know we have a couple of them but what about the rest. Can't think of a window where they will be released because we are moving on to the next album.

Finally done a Noel cover. Beautiful, yet very powerful vocal. This song always makes me cry as I have to think of my late dearest mum. Thank you Rolo for letting us hear this cover.

Does anyone else have a feeling from those first few gigs that he's trying hard to step up his game? I mean, he sounds great as he was, but doesn't look like a pissed off cat most of the time, he's more focused on getting it all right. I tend to think that all the flak he got from Liam about One Love Manchester and the prospect of his younger brother having an album that can be a potential hit must have crossed Noel's mind at one point, so he's giving it his absolute best on stage to garner some good press. Or maybe he's just making use of his well rested voice

I'd be very surprised if we heard a new single before the end of the year.
(I'm not complaining btw...I've got enough to listen to. When it's ready, it will come)

Wow man, great Noel's covers. As you have a similar raspy Liam tone, it shows how more powerful these songs would be with Liams voice;-)
