Broken Arrow is amazing. Good melody, surprisingly good lyrics for Noel, doesn't over stay it's welcome. It's my second favourite HFB song. |

Didn't know you disliked "The Right Stuff" I like the instrumentation more than anything. I think some people judge it like a traditional pop song. Remarkably close.
Isolated on an iPod shuffle, I can listen to most of them but as a whole, the albums just lack that bite. Maybe some of the songs would get higher ratings if there were greater differences in style throughout the album. These two albums don't mix it up enough and it's the same general mid tempo rhythms.
Obviously, Liam vocals on many of these songs would improve them significantly in my opinion - while the Dave Sardy influenced plod tries to suck the life out of some tunes, Liam's vocals would have provided them with much needed vigour.
One thing I read that really summed up the post-Oasis songs from both Gallaghers was the assumption that 'Noel has the songs but not the attitude, Liam has the attitude but not the songs'. Obviously, with a fully written Noel Oasis album with limited Noel vocals, they could have reconciled both strengths to credible effect.

"If I Had A Gun" is badly produced and lacks that little thing to be a great song, but it isn't that bad of a song most of the fans make it to be.
On the other hand, I've never got the appeal of "In The Heat of The Moment" and "Ballad of The Mighty I", especially the first one. I can understand it's an uncommon Noel Gallagher song, but to its core it's no better than say "Force of Nature", imo. Especially can't stand the chorus.

And I think it would have stayed that way if it hadn't been so brutally butchered in the studio. However, whenever I hear acoustic versions of the full song, I still can't be bothered to listen to it. It does nothing for me, and it's never beaten the sketchy soundcheck. Maybe it just works best for me in its hazy primitive form, making it more dreamlike and ethereal. |

How the fuck can people claim to be able to judge a song in steps of 0.1? Like, how the hell do you tell if a song is a 7.4, a 7.6 or a 7.7?? Just wondering, because even a 0.5 scale is really hard imo.
