I think it is. Seen another quote having a dig at Grohl. He has undoubtedly turned in to the very thing he hated. What makes me laugh is the fact that Glastonbury being political is framed as some kind of brand new thing that's just cropped up out of nowhere, as if Greenpeace for example hasn't been directly involved with the festival since 1991 Edit: you also can't forget that artists have been using their platform and speaking up for what they believe in (on a MUCH larger scale than just 'war is bad guys!!') for decades upon decades and without politics being involved in music we would never have got some of the greatest songs in history

Genuinely, what the fuck happened to Noel? I grew up in a tiny Texas town, with a sick, single mother in abject poverty, who tried to protect me from a father that kidnapped me and stalked/menaced us for years.
I found Oasis and finished high school having never been on any sort of vacation, but saved enough money working during my adolescence that I was able to fly to NYC and see them at their three nights at Radio City less than a month after graduation (have seen them, Beady Eye, LG/NG solo over a dozen times since). The experience completely blew my mind and opened up my world to endless possibilities. I became a fanatic of the highest order and consumed absolutely everything that had been released about them.
This led me to have traveled to 40 U.S. states, over 30+ countries, live in Europe for almost two years and to have multiple university degrees. I say this sincerely: if I had not seen them live, I would’ve never escaped that poverty-stricken life/town. I literally made decisions based on if I thought Liam or Noel would’ve been too scared or apprehensive to take chances. They gave me strength, power, and belief.
It’s true that I always preferred Liam, but I also completely idolized Noel. I truly loved him. However, I’ve got to admit, I actually dislike him now. He was always a curmudgeon, but he was clever and hysterically funny. Now he just seems to be a sad, mean, miserable asshole. And frankly, I don’t care for him at all. I would’ve never imagined it possible to have that sentiment. It saddens me.

Noel's fine if he's being interviewed about his new music, or Oasis, stuff like that. There's been some really good recent interviews like the pedal show one.
But the moment he gets onto anything about the wider state of the country or politics or culture, he's just a conservative misanthrope who comes across like Jeremy Clarkson or someone like that, it's so tedious. It's fine not to like bands going on about politics at gigs (people have been criticising his mate Bono for decades for it), but to start moaning about "wokeness", "virtue-signalling" and shit like that is just straight from the right-wing press. He'll have a weekly Daily Mail column soon if he keeps it up.

Please stop it Noel. You are coming across as a completely out of touch, angry auld gammon. Bit weird him saying that seeing how he was such a big fan of the Jam and the Smiths growing up.

Saying that, I have mates who come out with this sort of shit, just have to grin and bear it then tell them to shut it.

The only bothersome part for me is his use of phrases like “virtue signaling.” Not that there aren’t bands/people who do that on a regular basis, but Noel shouldn’t even be aware of that phrase, let alone what it means. Indicative of the content/media he’s been taking in.

We all know what it means, don't know why you expect him to be the only person on the planet who hasn't heard of those terms. Time to make your choices people. I don't know what's going on with Noel, if this is just who is now or he's having some sort of midlife crisis but you either come to terms with it and continue to enjoy his music past and present, or you stop listening. I've done it before, stopped listening to an artist. Had to in the end. Sometimes you just can't separate art from artist. I'll still be listening to Oasis and Noel though. He's not rattling my cage that much yet though be nice if the fucking Sun would stop publishing everything he says to Matt Morgan so I don't have to see it.

I'm a bit disappointed by what he says but will continue to listen to his music as long as he doesn't end up like Ian Brown or something.

The fact that he has an issue with people saying 'Fuck the Tories' genuinely has me believing that he would vote Conservative now, the fucking wetwipe.

I couldn’t care less about his political leanings. I just think he’s become a more obnoxiously arrogant, angry person with a sharp tongue that no longer speaks with any value.
It’s concerning that people hold something against others for their political beliefs. This is exactly what the powers who control us want and it’s shocking that those living in it are either blinded by naïveté or are too consumed with themselves to realize it. For those of us that reside in the U.S., we are living in the most propagandized nation on Earth and our friends in the UK are close behind.
The Russians and Chinese are aware that their media is just a state-run propaganda machine, but for some reason we won’t collectively wake the fuck up. There’s endless evidence of atrocities committed behind lies propagated for monetary gain/power and we know it, yet still think one side is better than the other?? Those in power don’t give a single fuck about the common man; they continue to increase their riches while our resources dwindle and all we do is infight.

It's less about his specific beliefs (which I'm sure are either terrible or few in number) and more about him parroting right wing lines which he doesn't seem to understand. He's a useful establishment idiot.

Seriously WTF are you going on about now? Noel is saying that Glastonbury is too "woke" (what even is that?) and too political. The folk that have replied to this are simply pointing out that Glastonbury has always had political leanings and stood up for various causes. It was born out of 60's counter-culture ffs. We are also pointing out his hypocrisy given he grew up a massive Jam fan and now he's coming out with this shit.

I'm a bit disappointed by what he says but will continue to listen to his music as long as he doesn't end up like Ian Brown or something. Got my mate to play me the segment from Matt Morgan's podcast where he said all this and it's not as bad I thought. He does explain himself but people aren't gonna know about that part unless they pay up. Personally feel he's not as simple as people see him. He's got some conservative leanings especially when it comes to money but he's not an actual conservative. He's stated many times that he doesn't like the Tories, that he's Labour all his life but is fed up with all modern politicians and Tony Blair was the last decent one. Said he never wanted Brexit and thought people were dickheads for voting for it but was against overturning the vote of the majority as thought that went against democracy. To put it into perspective, he's not a misogynist, racist, homophobe or transphobe - just look at the video for Pretty Boy. I think his reaction to flags and 'preaching' from the stage/politics at Glasto is definitely old man yelling at the clouds, we know he can be sexist and a massive hypocrite but he's not a right wing nut job. His current image isn't helped by publications/social media picking out things he says to Matt Morgan out of context to generate hype/drama etc. Noel should stop doing that podcast, it's actually doing him no favours. For someone who doesn't like social media if Noel'd actually go on twitter once in a while to clarify things, it might actually give him more control over his words and be better for his image. This is where Liam is really smart, he realised he could use social media to his advantage. Noel should do the same.

Every time Noel gives his opinion on things like this, I think of that line from Flashbax: ‘In my well paid opinion These things, they really don't matter’. And I think that sums it up.
