"Open the Door, See What You Find" is such a guilty pleasure. I can't say it's a great song... I dismissed it at first but there's something in it... the mood, probably. The perfect soundtrack for a summer morning. Why guilty? The verses, the chorus are absolutely great. The Bridge is just ok, but how many songs can say that ?

Think of a Number and There She Blows are two of the best things Noel has written since 1996.

The drums in the intro and the orchestra is absolutely phenomenal. Gets me every time👌 Unfortunately, the "chorus" is a stark contrast 😬

Think of a Number is a distant cousin to Falling Down IMO. Some really cool syncopation in the drum beat here and there, especially in the middle 8 “why do we still play pretend..”

Think of a Number and There She Blows are two of the best things Noel has written since 1996. Think of A Number genuinely reminds me of some of the best things off SOTSOG and some of the hearly b-sides with how painfully honest it is, it's almost like seeing Noel unfiltered The fact that it manages to do so with an arrangement/structure that doesn't necessarily indulge those feelings makes it even more impressive

There She Blows blows.
But other than that, the rest is great. Still letting it settle, but for a conventional Noel album, it's incredibly enjoyable, moreso than I thought. Some times the sentiments hit you at the right time, and maybe that's just the case here.

I got my physical copies in today. Beautiful photos and it looks so much better in person than on a screen. Think it deserved to have a writeup at the beginning though. Although maybe it is the point to have the curiosity to look these places up yourself.

Question for those in UK/Manchester:
I’ve heard Noel say over the years he’s from Longsight and/or Burnage. Are those two different places? Aka, they moved as kids. Or is one like a town and one is the county, or however it works in the UK. Thanks!

Not from the UK, but still, they're different parts of Manchester, Burnage is further south Noel was born in Longsight, but the Gallaghers got relocated to Burnage as their house block was brought down to build something else, I think Noel was around 4 more or less as Liam was born in Burnage

Surprise surprise... The greatest guitar solo on Council Skies was performed by Noel Gallagher. It's almost as though he's really talented and needs to start playing again. C'mon Noel - no more Marr pleaaaase.

Johnny's done a lovely job with his contribution to HFB, and it's unmistakeably him, but yeah I wish Noel realised whenever he did something on guitar with the HFB it actually sounded good and he could try more

I hear a bit of the Lovesong vibe by The Cure also so that, plus New Year's Day and the chorus is the acoustic version of Fade Away. It's no wonder it's my second favourite on the record!

I like Noel’s vulnerability we’re seeing throughout this cycle. Whether it’s evident musically or in interviews. And it leaves me wondering if that was always what drew people to him, right from day dot.
